If you were in middle school anytime from 2000-2010, then you probably lived off of weird Youtube videos. We would walk around the halls at school quoting these comedic videos and would be so eager to find new ones to show our friends. The 2000s were a weird time, but we survived it. Here are 11 Youtube videos from your childhood that you were obsessed with:
1. Muffins
The genius behind "Shoes" threw this one our way and to this day I can't stop quoting it. It was literally a man dressed as a woman holding up gross flavors of muffins. Blueberry, strawberry, fire, cigarettes, and paperclip muffins were all included on the list.
2. Charlie the Unicorn
This was a tale of some unicorns trying to make it to candy mountain. In the end, the people of candy mountain take Charlie's kidney out of him. I can't get over how weird this was.
3. The Mysterious Ticking Noise
This song is constantly stuck in my head. The Potter Puppet Pals had many videos, but the mysterious ticking noise was undoubtedly the most popular. It was just puppets of Harry Potter characters singing a song with the beat being a ticking noise. Iconic.
4. Where's the Chapstick?
Just a girl singing about her lost chapstick. Spoiler alert: she finds it and peace is restored in her life.
5. The little girl who attempted to sing "I Will Always Love You"
My heart aches for this little girl. She was trying her hardest to belt out some Whitney Houston and she gets terribly frustrated when she can't hit those high notes.
6. Sittin' on the toilet
Just a woman singing about how she's sitting on the toilet. Literally 45 seconds of her singing the line "sittin' on tha toilet."
7. Leave Britney Alone
Britney Spears' bald, attacking paparazzi with umbrellas phase was difficult for all of us, but not as difficult as it was for this guy. He made a spectacle of himself while crying and screaming at people to "leave Britney alone" because she was going through a hard time.
8. Scarlet takes a tumble
Here we see Scarlet attempting to serenade the camera, but then she steps on a table and takes a harsh fall. I don't know why everyone was so obsessed with watching this woman fall, but it was hilarious.
9. Can I have your number?
This was originally aired on MTV, but most of us were too young to religiously watch MTV so we saw it on youtube. This video was the origin of all middle school boys' pick up lines throughout their teen years. The back of your head is ridiculous.
10. Shoes
This tops the list as the weirdest one. This was a story of a girl named Kelly who is obsessed with shoes. So obsessed, she walks around town signing about which shoes suck and which don't. It was filled with weird electric guitar riffs and an intro with Kelly's family telling her she needs to get her life together.
11. Bon Qui Qui
Again, this was aired on TV, but we all just watched it on Youtube. Bon Qui Qui was a hilarious cashier at a "King Burger" who deemed all the customers "rude" and talked to her boyfriend on the phone during her shift.
I hope this has given you some sort of nostalgia and made you cringe at how weird we were in middle school.
