Ever since I've come home, it seems like the only thing I've heard from people I know is "How is/was school?" to which I reply with the obligatory "it's good." Good could be one word to describe my first year at Princeton, but it is definitely not all of them. So, I have created an in-depth list of all of my feelings after one year in the books.
1. Done
As is probably always the case, the end of the year could not have felt better. By now, I am mentally and emotionally done with classes and could not be more ready for summer to start. There is still a little time to stress, as all of my grades are not in yet, but off the record, I am done.
2. Poor
College really taught me, for the first time in my life, how easy it is to spend money on food. My savings account is definitely struggling right now, and 99 percent of that is from trips to Wawa or to Studio 34. I spent an absurd amount of money this year on food, and I am feeling poorer than ever before.
3. Relieved
Basically the same thing as done, but with a much more lighthearted feel. I could not feel better about having nothing but work on my mind for the rest of the summer. No more finals, no more reading and no more late nights at Firestone.
4. Tired
High school was not exactly the biggest challenge I have ever faced, and college was definitely a huge wake-up call. Working for good grades really sucks, and at this point in the year, I am mentally and emotionally exhausted from the roller-coaster that is college. I could go for a really, really long nap, but I start work on Monday.
5. Comfy
Man, it is easy to forget how comfy my bed at home is. I am currently sipping a coffee and writing this article way later than I should be because of how little I want to write after writing more than 40 paragraphs over the past two days for finals. Nevertheless, this blanket is comfy, and I couldn't be happier to be home.
6. Inspired
After a year of working hard at school, the transition to having nothing to do is a little odd. I feel as though I should always be getting something done, which inspires me to get up and do something I actually enjoy doing at home like going to the gym or reading a book. Everything I didn't want to do during the school year sounds so much better now that it's not required.
7-11. Sick of talking about school
Please, if you've read this article, don't ask me how school is. I know it's the go-to question, and I'd love to answer it in a few days, but school is great, and this article should tell you plenty about how I feel. I am in "no-school" mode right now, and I'd really like to stay that way for at least a few days. If you do ask, you will definitely not hear a long winded answer. School is good, relatives and friends. School is just good.
