11 Ways To Stay At Gonzaga Forever

As any current or recently graduated student at Gonzaga might know, it’s hard to leave the beautiful campus we call home. Some (possible even most) of us would stay for an eternity if we could, and that’s why I have taken the liberty of creating a list of ways that any Zag might stay a Zag forever.

1. Keep failing or never take one of your required core classes.

Study like this.

2. Attend GU’s law school.

Channel your inner-Elle Woods, and it'll buy you two-three more years with the Zag fam.

3. Work for Sodexo in the COG.

COG cookies everyday of your life???

4. Join the priesthood or a convent.

If you love Jesus as much as you love Gonzaga, then this could be the perfect option for you!

5. Coach one of the athletic teams.

Gonzaga has a chess team right?

6. Teach at Gonzaga.

Dibs on being the next Zumba instructor!

7. Move to the Logan neighborhood permanently.

The Logan neighborhood is the perfect area for raising kids, and I hear that it's pretty quiet on Friday and Saturday nights.

8. Build a statue of yourself.

You might not technically be there, but a statue is the perfect way to show you're on campus in spirit. I hear they're only a couple thousand to build

9. Work for CAMPO or join the Logan police force.

Be the hero Gonzaga needs.

10. Be the next Thayne McCullough

Even though he’s irreplaceable, he is going to retire eventually. When that sad day comes, Gonzaga will be looking for somebody to fill his shoes. It’s gonna be a lot of pressure since he’s such a cool prez, but one of us has to do it, and you’d get the ultimate perk: staying at Gonzaga forever.

11. Spend your four years at the university wisely, and leave behind a legacy.

It’s cheesy, I know, but if you live your time at Gonzaga to the fullest-- soak up as much information as you possibly can, form intimate and authentic relationships, eat cookies every Wednesday at SubCo and figure out who you genuinely are-- then you’ll leave a piece of yourself behind, and you’ll never regret it..

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
