We all know that college student = stress. As a college student being away from home is hard enough, but having to balance your school work, social life, and mental well-being seems almost impossible. Surprisingly, it's not. Here are eleven tips for how to help manage/reduce your stress as a college student.

1. Use a planner.

Having a planner is a simple way to keep you on track with your school assignments and daily commitments.

2. Plan some alone time.

Everybody needs some alone time, especially as a college student sharing a shoebox of a room.

3. Eat well-balanced meals.

This is an important one. Make sure to grab some fruit, veggies, and protein while getting your dinner in the caf! Don't forget some water!

4. Get some exercise.

Go on a walk, a run, hit the campus gym, just get moving!

5. Talk to someone.

Everybody needs some time to vent and feel heard whether it be to a friend, your roommate, or a campus counselor.

6. Get some sleep.

Funny. But ok instead of staying up all night on your phone...just turn it off.

7. Do your best and do what you can.

That is all anybody can expect. You know what you can do better than anybody else does.

8. Spend time with friends.

Friends are the best therapy.

9. Do a facemask.

Self-care is always important and a face mask never disappoints.

10. Drink some tea.

Nothing is more calming than a cup of tea.

11. Spend time outdoors.

Breath in some fresh air instead of being locked up in your stuffy dorm room all day long.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.
