Throughout my time at college, which is three semesters so far, I made some pretty great friends. But like food, rides and classes there are different types. I'm not sure about you but all of your friends are not the same and all have their special place in your heart. So here are the 11 types of friends you make during your college career.
1. The friend of a friend.
This is the person who someone close to you is always around, you are pretty much forced into a friendship with anyone they bring around. Sooner or later it will click, and the friend group will become one big happy family. That new friend is no longer the random girl who slept on Magnolia's third floor couches, but a new addition to your life. Now she sleeps on your floor, and sometimes you try to fit two people in a bed that was clearly meant for one. Did we just become best friends? Absolutely.
2. The anything goes friend.
This friend is the type to do anything with you no matter what, it could be as small as to walking to the student center for Jersey Mikes, to the person that will willingly go out with you on a Tuesday night. This person won't even second guess spontaneous trips to wherever you are feeling like going.
3. The party friend.
This is the friend you probably do not even know by name and probably nothing about them. This person is the friend who you manage to see every weekend. No matter what party you either find each other on the dance floor or in the bathroom, and every time you do see each other you freak and act like best friends.
4. The crazy one.
This person is the one who will do the craziest things with you, no matter what. From making you go out at three in the morning to god knows where, or dancing in the middle of Chipotle. This person might be caught wearing ridiculous things, and might even force you to help them be put into a tiger suit.
5. The you go I go.
This friend is the person if they go you go, no matter the time, place or circumstances. It can be as small as going to the library in between classes, going back to Rowan every weekend in the summer, to cliff jumping in Philly. It does not matter what it is or where it is if they are there so are you.
6. The one with common sense.
This is the friend who has probably saved your life more than once. This person is the one to make sure you don't go too crazy and make sure you're all in one piece by the end of the day. They can also be known as the mom of the group, because they make sure everyone is having fun while also staying alive.
7. The lone wolf.
This friend is the friend who is usually by themselves, and you don't really make plans with but see just as much. This person is the one who you see walking on campus more than once and you always stop to have a full conversation with them.
8. The crop top friend – if you don't have one you probably are them.
This person is the one to wear a crop top 24/7. Class? Crop top. Food shopping? Crop top. Party? Crop top. It doesn't matter to them, no matter the situation you always know what they will be wearing. This friend is always ready for a good time.
9. The roommate.
If you are lucky, you might be very good friends with your roommate. This is the person you have roomed since freshman year and know that you will spend your remaining college years living with them. This friend is the one to encourage you to order pizza, Chinese, or both at 1 a.m. This is the friend who you can have the weirdest conversations with but have it feel normal. Usually, you are mom's to one another throughout the year. You never have to ask to borrow clothes and they will always be there for you.
10. Super close super fast.
In this friendship, it came out of nowhere. If someone was to tell you that this stranger was going to become your right hand man, you would have told them they were insane. Somehow, in what felt like moments, you became inseparable. A few drunken nights and some sushi dates later, its history.
11. My person.
This person is your person in college. This is the person you can go to at any time of the day and talk to about anything. They are one of your best friends and you probably cannot function or live without them. Sadly, for me my person is graduating next year. Even though it's highly unlikely, if you don't talk to them for a week for whatever reason it doesn't matter, because the second you see them everything is the same and everything will be okay.
Overall, I love all the friends that I met during college and couldn't imagine what life would be like without them. So thank you, thank you for being there and thank you for making college one of the best experiences I ever had. I hope you find, or have found, your people at Rowan.
