Adele is a superhero! She literally has the power to get women and men, girls and boys, in their feelings. Absolutely no one is unaffected by her soulful, sultry voice. Adele started from the bottom of the love pool and now she's here! She's possesses a multi-million dollar heart, and after chasing pavements and realizing she can't make her man love her, she is now a proud mother, and is one of the few people who we can all say has personally gone through our relationships with us! She's not our friend, she is our superhero who keeps us in our feelings. Adele, thanks girl, for the tears, for the laughs, and for the motivation your songs have given us all.
1. Chasing Pavements
"Should I give up? / Or should I just keep chasin' pavements / Even if it leads nowhere? / Or would it be a waste / Even if I knew my place? Should I leave it there? / Should I give up? / Or should I just keep chasin' pavements / Even if it leads nowhere?"
We've all had that moment when we contemplate whether or not we should stay with that one person who makes us cry more than smile. Our minds are telling us we should let it go, but our hearts always overrule that, and we wait around hopelessly hoping they will change. *sigh*
2. Someone Like You
"Never mind, I'll find someone like you / I wish nothing but the best for you, too / Don't forget me, I beg / I'll remember you said, / Sometimes it lasts in love but sometimes it hurts instead, / Sometimes it lasts in love but sometimes it hurts instead."
As much as we all love to love, it can also be scary, because it's never promised. We think that we're going to be with someone for forever, but it doesn't always end up that way. Adele says the hurtful truth: "Sometimes it lasts in love, but sometimes it hurts instead."
3. Make You Feel My Love
"I'd go hungry, I'd go black and blue, / And I'd go crawling down the avenue. / No, there's nothing that I wouldn't do / To make you feel my love."
We all have that one person that we love so much, and we'd go hungry, go black and blue, and walk down the lonely avenue just to show them. But sometimes love just isn't enough, and it isn't meant to be.
4. One ∧ Only
"I dare you to let me be your / your one and only / I promise I'm worthy to hold in your arms / So come on and give me the chance / To prove that I'm the one who can / Walk that mile until the end starts."
Almost every teenage couple has a song that they feel represented their relationship. When my first love and I began to date, this was our song, and it meant so much to the both of us. I still hear this song occasionally, and it always brings back those bittersweet memories that I have shared with him.
5. I Can't Make You Love Me
"Cause I can't make you love me if you don't/ You can't make your heart feel / Somethin' that it won't / And here in the dark, in these final hours / I will lay down my heart / And I will feel the power but you won't / No you won't / 'Cause I can't make you love me / When you don't When you don't."
When you start singing this song, you realize that it is time to move on. Just listen to the lyrics. You really can't make someone love you if they don't. Profound.
6. Set Fire To The Rain
“My hands, they're strong / But my knees were far too weak / To stand in your arms / Without falling to your feet.”
7. Rolling In The Deep
“The scars of your love remind me of us / They keep me thinking that we almost had it all / The scars of your love, they leave me breathless / I can't help feeling / We could've had it all / Rolling in the deep / You had my heart inside of your hand / And you played it to the beat."
This song gives those bittersweet feelings. You know that the you and the person you were with could have had something good, if only he or she hadn't done something to mess it up.
8. When We Were Young
"But if by chance you’re here alone / Can I have a moment / Before I go? / Cause I’ve been by myself all night long / Hoping you’re someone I used to know"
"And a part of me keeps holding on / Just in case it hasn’t gone / I guess I still care / Do you still care?
This song is on Adele's new album "25." It's in stores now, so make sure to go get yours!
9. Don't You Remember
"When was the last time you thought of me? / Or have you completely erased me from your memory? / I often think about where I went wrong, / The more I do, the less I know."
After a serious breakup, you can't help but wonder if the person you still love ever thinks about you, in the way that you still think about them.
10. Hello
"Hello, it's me / I was wondering if after all these years you'd like to meet / To go over everything / They say that time's supposed to heal ya, but I ain't done much healing."
Just when we all thought we were finally about to get out of our feelings, Adele released her new single "Hello." It's a piano ballad with soulful influences, and lyrics that discuss themes of nostalgia and regret. "Hello" debuted atop the Billboard Hot 100, becoming Adele's fourth number one on the chart and breaking several records, including becoming the first song with over a million digital sales in a week.
After four long years, Adele is back! Ladies, grab your tissues and get those Twitter fingers ready for all of the subliminal tweets you're probably going to post.
