11 Thoughts You Have At The End of Spring Semester
Jacqueline Kavana

The end of the spring semester can be crazy and extremely stressful. There is so much that is happening in such a short amount of time. April is basically known as "Hell Month" because of everything that tends to be crammed in this month. Here are just some of the many thoughts that go through our heads during this struggling time.

1. Summer is coming.

All you can think about is finally being free from your work and getting released back into the world. You can't wait to do all the things that you planned do to this summer and will most likely be day dreaming about it in your classes. However, it's hard to get yourself out of this mindset and not be lazy when there is so much that needs to be done.

2. Professors are cramming in papers and tests.

A part of you dies when the professor realizes that they didn't give you enough work and then start piling on everything. It's more stuff to do that you don't have time for.

3. Assignments that seemed far away are now here.

We all have those assignments that the professor says won't be due until the end of the semester. The majority of us just push that assignment to the side thinking that we don't have to worry about that any time soon. Unfortunately, the time is up and the assignment comes back up out of nowhere. You realize now that you should have done the assignment a while ago.

4. Final Exams.

Final exams are finally coming and you realize that you have to actually start studying. Where do you even start? How does one study?

5. Going through the housing process.

Now you have to worry about where you are going to live next semester. This isn't a problem to you if you are a commuter or are staying in the same room for the next semester. For others, however, you need to go through the stressful process of figuring out what room you want that hasn't already been taken. Hopefully, you will be able to get a big room and not a small one.

6. Packing up everything.

Packing your whole room up is a huge process because everything has to be taken home. This process is most likely trying to be done when your parents come to pick you up or when it's the last day and you're trying to go home. When you're packing, you realize that there isn't enough storage to bring back all your clothes and you have to call your parents that you might need another bin.

7. End of the semester parties.

A good thing that you could look forward to at the end of the semester are the big parties that will be thrown. Now you have to go to the clubs and not skip any nights because they are the last club nights that you will have at college before the next semester. It's also good to go to these parties so that you can take a moment from studying and relieve your stress. I know I can't wait until Women's Day at my college.

8. Missing your college friends.

It gets a little sad by the end of the spring semester because now you are going to go through the summer without seeing your college friends. It's hard to go from seeing them every day to not seeing them at all during the summer. It is important that you say goodbye to them before you leave and give them hugs even though they hate being hugged.

9. Can't wait to see your family and close high school friends.

I'm someone who loves to be with my family and usually, by the end of the spring semester, I can't wait to see them again. It's always great to see your high school friends again too. You even miss the little things that you would do with them in the summer like the meet up at Starbucks and watching movies at each other's houses.

10. Surviving Finals.

Finally, you took all your finals and you feel like you're alive again. Everything that you worked hard on and studied for is done no matter how good or bad you think you did on the test.

11. Finally getting to relax.

Everything is done and now you can finally do whatever you want because summer is here. It's time now to enjoy summer until you start looking forward to going back to college somewhere in the middle of summer.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
