As all New Jerseyans understand, there's a clear separation between Southern, Central (it exists), and Northern New Jersey. For those who have grown up here, it is no question that the list of differences would be endless, but in short, any resident of South Jersey can relate to the following 12 items:
1. There is a Wawa on every corner...
Though much of South Jersey is rural, it seems there is a Wawa within ten minutes heading any direction.
2. And nearly as many pizza shops and diners.
Note, these are not chain restaurants like Papa John's and Olive Garden, but mom-and-pop shops.
3. Even with so many places for food, you will ALWAYS bump into someone you know.
It seems everyone knows everyone.
4. Expect at least a 15 minute drive to reach civilization.
If you're searching for a mall or are in the mood for a certain restaurant, expect to drive at least 15 minutes and probably hop on a highway.5. Therefore, it can be boring at times.
Once you've exhausted visiting the mall, movies, and bowling, there's not much else exciting to see.
6. But it's not a bad idea to head down the shore when you run out of options.
South Jersey offers some awesome options for a beach day, such as Cape May, Atlantic City, Ocean City, and Wildwood.
7. Please note, beaches in South Jersey are NOT like the show, Jersey Shore.
"Nice to meet you! Where are you from?" "New Jersey" "Oh! Like the Jersey Shore!?" "NO."
8. You know someone who has seen the Jersey Devil.
It's a miracle that they survived.
9. You may never learn how to pump gas.
Until you travel out of state, the gas light is on, and you have no other choice.
10. But you are familiar with the "jug handle".
This does not have anything to do with a pitcher.
11. You support Philadelphia sports teams.
And understand the rivalry with New York fans.
