Getting fit is not always the easiest thing to do, in fact, it takes a lot of determination and self-discipline.
Often during the process, we will start to doubt ourselves, ask ourselves if it is actually worth it, and even start to question our self-worth.
I myself even had these thoughts, but throughout this journey I have learned many things...
1. Getting fit is the biggest love/hate relationship you'll ever have. You'll hate the process at first, but you'll soon fall in love with it.
Admit it, nobody actually likes all the mental stress that we put ourselves through, but you can bet being drenched in sweat and being sore is something we fall in love with quickly.
2. Everyone starts somewhere and that's OKAY.
You may be one of those people that go to the gym and see these yoked guys using 100 pound dumbbells as a warm up and be too intimidated to do anything but cardio. Or you may be one of those people that think, "if he's lifting 100 pounds, so can I", when in reality this is your first time at the gym and the heaviest thing you've ever lifted was a gallon of milk at the grocery store--Don't be either of these people! Don't be embarrassed to pick up 10 pounds, in order to get to the top, you need to start from the beginning.
3. You will fail at many things, and once again, that's OKAY. Failure is a sign of personal growth and success.
Failure is not a bad thing at all, in fact, multiple failures are stepping stones to success. You learn and you grow from it.
4. Not everyone is going to like you, but that shouldn't stop you from reaching your goals.
Everywhere you go in life you are going to have haters, but the best part about it is that the number of supports you have outweighs them. If you really think about it, what are they doing with their lives besides hate on you while you're climbing to the top? Who do you really think is going to succeed more?
5. Sometimes you just have to get things done on your own, you can't always rely on people.
Unfortunately, people are not permanent and for that reason you should rely on yourself to get what you have to get done, done.
6. There is no better feeling than beating a PR (personal record).
Seeing your body transform and see it do things and lift amounts of weight it couldn't before is the greatest feeling, don't even try and argue with me on this.
7. The people who loved you before you lost weight, and love you just as much during the process--those are the people to keep close to your heart.
If you weren't good enough for certain people being a handful of pounds heavier, why would you be good enough for them now? Those people who once thought low of you shouldn't be allowed to bask in your shining fame with you.
"If you're absent during my struggle, don't expect to be present during my success." -Will Smith
8. It is perfectly fine to drop people if you feel as though they don't support you and want the absolute best for you.
There's no need to keep negativity around.
"Support yourself with the dreamers and doers, the believers and thinkers, but most of all, surround yourself with those who see greatness within you, even when you don't see it in yourself." -Anon
9. Positivity, confidence and determination go a long way, and as long as you have those three things--you're unstoppable.
Show everyone that you meant what you said when you said "I can and I will".
10. The most incredible things happen to you when you learn to step out of your comfort zone.
The comfort zone is this little evil area that plenty of people are stuck in, wishing they could break free. On the other side of your comfort zone is where all your dreams, goals and opportunities are.
11. It is not impossible. Yes, it's hard, but it's also 110 percent worth it.
Getting fit is one of the best things that you can do for yourself. Sure you're going to have moments of defeat, but your unstoppable, remember? So get out there and go crush your goals.
