Moving away or receiving an internship in a big city is beyond exciting. New faces, new apartment, new bed. However, moving away comes at a cost. You're no longer the high school or college student that you were who could enjoy the benefits of living under a familiar roof.
Here are a few things that I will miss and a few unfortunate adjustments:
1. Having money for the little things
2. Making your own schedule and actually including a workout
3. Adjusting to online dating
4. Managing to cook every home meal
5. Realizing the value of your salary
6. Missing the comfort and familiarity of your bed
7. Knowing what to do when there's an emergency
8. Knowing how to be independent
9. That is, making the most out of dinner
10. The once familiar sound of your mom knocking on your door replaced by the maintenance guy
11. Realizing that a messy room is a metaphor for your life
It all comes with the move.
