11 Things You Know All Too Well If You Grew Up Sharing A Room With Your Sister

The fighting, late night chats, clothes stealing, and zero personal space made you both the best friends you are today.

Many of you, like me, probably had to go through a time in your life where you had to share your sacred places with at least one of your siblings. Looking back on those times now, I smile and laugh about the memories, but then I also remember the fighting and all the annoying things that come with sharing a room with your sister.

1. Splitting the room half and half

If you have a dresser with six drawers, they get three, and you get three. If they even put a toe on your side of the room, then they have literally crossed the line.

2. The continuous mystery of missing clothes

Time and time and time again your clothes go missing, and they won't show back up for days to weeks. Just to find out it has been in your sister's drawer for 5 days... Because she took it, and yes without asking.

3. The struggle of being the "clean" one

With the amount of hair that gets stuck on your feet, socks, clothes, blankets, and even the wall of the shower... You should be able to gather it up, head down to locks of love, and if calculations are correct you could donate about 20 wigs a year.

7. You dream about what your own room would be like

Oh, the imagination... Pink, blue, dark gray? Or would you do an elephant themed room with one of those cute mosquito net things hanging over your bed like royalty? But don't get too excited, it is just a dream right now after all.

8. If your sister went to a sleepover, it was basically the best night ever

You hear your sister is staying the night at a friends house which means you have the whole room to yourself. This is an extremely exciting moment, even though in all reality, you'll probably end up asleep by 10 P.M. after one movie.

9. The "you turn the light off" nightly argument

It somehow ends up every night that you both are snuggled up in your beds, and the light is still on. So then begins the "you were the last one up, you shut it off"... "But I did last night." Every. Single. Night.

10. All the arguments, but still bedtime talks

Your sister and you can argue all day, or just for 20 minutes, but when the lights go out then starts the laughter of stories, and making fun of mom and dad or your other siblings, and in those 10 minute moments you become best friends all over again.

11. Once you get Your own room, you start to miss the old days

Even if your sister is just down the hall, or moved out altogether, those days become some of your best memories, and you miss staying up and playing Barbie's until 10 o'clock or having easy access to each other's clothes. They'll forever be the ultimate, and your favorite roommate.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
