11 Struggles That People Who Wear Contacts Experience

Contacts can be both a blessing and a curse. For those of us who are just trying to make it through life without our glasses, we are all too familiar with the many struggles that contacts bring, like...

1. The constant need to put your contact into the correct part of your eye.

You know, that feeling when your contact moves to an unidentified corner of your eye, and it must go back into its place or you risk blurred vision for the rest of the day.

2. People asking if you are winking at them.

I am not winking at you, I am merely trying to regain my sight.

3. The struggle that is an impromptu sleepover.

The first stage is the fear of whether or not you brought an extra case/have any contact solution. The second is realizing you have neither. The third is daring to ask if the host has any. The fourth is realizing they do not. The final stage is contemplating whether to throw away your contacts or suck it up and sleep with them in.

4. When your eyes know it's time to sleep before you do.

When your contacts start to stick to your eyes or your vision is completely blurry, you know it’s late.

5. The feeling that you have to take your eyes out.

It’s late. Your contacts have told you that. Now you actually have to go take them out, and the pain you feel as you remove them literally feels like you are taking your eyes out of your head.

6. Everyone’s surprise when you wear your glasses. No they are not new as of this morning. Please do not tell me to wear them more often.

7. The feeling of wearing your glasses versus wearing your contacts.

The prescription is never quite right and they just feel so disconnected from your face.

8. The pain you feel when you lose a contact.

You were so attached to it in so many ways. Now you have an uneven number of lefties to righties, and you still feel the need to find it (whether it be in your eye, on the floor, or, like me once, on the airplane).

9. Never actually replacing them when you are supposed to.

If we are being serious, you probably do not replace them whether you wear daily, weekly, or monthly contacts—I see you (kind of).

10. When your eyes feel like they are on fire.

‘Nuff said.

11. Having to deal with people who freak out when you touch your eye.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
