Some people tell me that they don’t know how I’m majoring in biology because it is so difficult. Other people tell me that my major is a total joke. Whatever someone else’s opinion is is irrelevant. I know the truth behind being a biology major.
1. Taking irrelevant classes such as organic chemistry and physics.
I want to be a veterinarian, why exactly do I need to take these classes?
2. Half of your schedule is taken up by lab classes.
Spending five hours a week in organic chemistry lab is just a joy.
3. Questioning your own existence on a daily basis.
When classes base their final grades on only two tests, there is no room for error.
4. Upper-level classes are the bane of your existence.
On one hand, they are way more interesting than those annoying basic biology and chemistry classes. On the other hand, they are so crazy difficult.
5. Your mental health is constantly decreasing.
Shoutout for biology for making my anxiety ten times worse.
6. Your tolerance for other majors complaining about their work is low.
I’m sorry that you have a 12-page paper due in two weeks, but I have seven tests before then.
7. Having to memorize all of the steps of glycolysis.
For what? Seriously, why?
8. Fantasizing about having a 4.0.
Good luck balancing a schedule full of organic chemistry, organic chemistry lab, microbiology, genetics, and some other classes while getting As in all of them.
9.You love dissections.
Why is this a struggle? Oh yeah, because you’ll smell like formaldehyde all day.
10. Signing up for classes is nerve-wracking.
When upper-level classes only have 15 seats in them, it’s a battle for a spot.
11. Worrying about getting accepted into school after undergraduate.
How could they possibly want me when there are so many smart people? HOW?
