There comes a point in everyone's life when being an adult seems extremely tempting. Words like, "independence," "grown-up," and "responsible" appear to be words that describe a new high in one's life--a time when he or she is ready to go off on one's own and take the world by storm.
Funny how that changes when you get to college.
Here are eleven struggles of wanting to "adult" but not really being able to fully "adult:"
1. Waking up on time
Let's be real; it's hard enough to wake up in college. We're expected to wake up on time for things? Like, for early morning coffee shop shifts? And early 12 o'clock classes? (Just kidding, I've had earlier classes than that).
2. Remembering to feed yourself
Ain't nobody got time for that.
3. Cooking for yourself
It's hard enough to remember to feed yourself, yet alone cook for yourself.
4. Cooking good food for yourself
If you've remembered to eat and cook for yourself, there's still another battle to be won: making something that's actually edible.
5. Giving up on cooking or dining hall food and just surviving off of junk food
Which is difficult, because you're expected to perform well academically and stuff.
6. Running out of money
...often.
7. Dealing with people who expect you to know what you're doing with your life
I don't even know what I'm going to eat tonight, yet alone what my career is going to look like.
8. Laundry
You don't do it until you run out of underwear.
9. Choosing to face up to responsibilities instead of going out
Sometimes the fear of missing out is real.
10. Going home and speaking to adults like you're sophisticated when actually...
11. And finally, having more and more responsibilities every year
They don't just go away. Wouldn't it be cool to get paid to be unproductive instead?
