As we approach the fall season, you might be looking for something new to listen to - something to listen to when you're watching the leaves fall, when you're out for a run in the cool night, or when you're cuddling with your bae by the fireside. I think acoustic music is the perfect accompaniment to falling leaves, so I have complied what I think is the best fall playlist.
1. Swing Life Away - Rise Against.
Swing Life Away is an acoustic rock song by punk rock band Rise Against, first released on the album Punk Goes Acoustic. The song is distinguished from the majority of Rise Against's catalog because it is performed and recorded acoustically. Perfect start for a fall playlist.
2. Old Pine - Ben Howard.
Old Pine is a song by British singer-songwriter Ben Howard from his debut studio album Every Kingdom. Old Pine talks of summer and spending that time with your friends.
3. Emmylou - First Aid Kit.
First Aid Kit is a Swedish folk duo that consists of the sisters Klara (vocals/guitar) and Johanna Söderberg (vocals/keyboards). The song was released on their album, The Lion's Roar, and was inspired by Emmylou Harris.
4. Deer Creek Canyon - Sera Cahoone.
Sera Cahoone released her solo debut in 2006. Deer Creek Canyon, her third solo album, sees her ruminating on the gravitational pull of home. Titled for the Colorado canyon where she came of age, where her mother still lives, Deer Creek Canyon delves deeper and sees her voice remarkably stronger than on her past albums.
5. You and Me - you+me.
You+Me is a Canadian/American folk music duo composed of singer-songwriters Dallas Green, better known as City and Colour, and Alecia Moore, better known as P!nk. The two had considered collaborating together for several years, and finally released their debut album in 2014.
6. Home/Dirty Paws - Gardiner Sisters.
The Gardiner Sisters are a family musical group from North Carolina. The group primarily consists of elder sisters Hailey, Allie, and Mandi Gardiner. The group began in 2007 when they first started posting videos of themselves singing on YouTube. They are known for their mashups and their cover of "Let it Go".
7. Wagon Wheel - Old Crow Medicine Show.
"Wagon Wheel" is a song cowritten by Bob Dylan and Ketch Secor of Old Crow Medicine Show. Dylan had written only the chorus and Ketch got permission to write the rest of the song. The song has been covered many times, most famously by Darius Rucker in 2013.
8. The Boxer - Mumford & Sons, feat. Jerry Douglas and Paul Simon.
"The Boxer" is a song by the American music duo Simon & Garfunkel from their fifth studio album, Bridge over Troubled Water. The song's lyrics take the form of a first-person lament, as the singer describes his struggles to overcome loneliness and poverty in New York City. The final verse switches to a third-person sketch of a boxer, who, despite the effects of "every glove that laid him down or cut him till he cried out", perseveres.
9. Gale Song - The Lumineers.
The Lumineers are a folk rock band, based in Denver, Colorado. This song appears on the movie soundtrack The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (2013) and on the album Cleopatra (2016).
10. Cherry Wine - Hozier.
Hozier is an Irish musician, singer and songwriter from County Wicklow. Cherry Wine was written by Hozier from the male perspective of an abuse sufferer. The song’s lyrics offer a unique insight into an abusive relationship, shining a light on the cycle of ‘justification’ often perpetuated in domestic violence incidents; that public health experts say controls the abused, shames the victim, and shifts responsibility for the abuser’s violent behavior.
11. Tiger Striped Sky - Roo Panes.
Andrew "Roo" Panes is an English singer-songwriter. After falling into a river as a child, he received the nickname 'Roo' in homage to a Winnie-the-Pooh character who met a similar fate while playing a game called pooh sticks. His début LP Little Giant was released in Autumn 2014, with the leading single Tiger Striped Sky previously released in June of 2014.
