As I watched the 2016 Olympic Opening Ceremony, I looked at all the athletes and thought: "I wish I was motivated enough to become an Olympian." I thought about how cool it must be to walk into that arena, wearing your nation's colors and representing all the people back home. Right after having that thought, I got out of my chair and struggled to put down the foot rest..that's when I realized that I will never even be close to being an Olympic athlete. These athletes are used to strenuous training, hours of dedication, and constant competition. On the other hand, I am used to binge-watching Netflix, eating too many Oreos, and sitting down for so long that I make a crease in the couch cushion. If you experience these 11 things, you probably aren't an Olympic athlete.
1. The only time you "feel the burn" is when the shower water gets too hot.
You might not be used to strenuous lifting, but sometimes the shampoo bottle is a little hard to open.
2. You begin to wheeze on your way up the stairs.
You have probably suggested that all stairs should be replaced by escalators.
3. You aren't sure how to use all the equipment at the gym.
When you do use the equipment, you're pretty sure you're using it wrong.
4. You get winded after writing three things in a listicle.
I just don't have the stamina to type for ten minutes.
5. You start to pay people to do things for you.
You want food, but you don't want to put the effort in to get it.
6. You arms tremble every time you pick up a barbell with no weights on the end.
Upper body strength isn't your forte.
7. You can't open a water bottle without a little struggle.
You should probably start learning what that gym equipment does.
8. When you do exercise, your form isn't always professional.
You might even look like this.
9. Your best endurance sport is sleeping.
If sleeping is ever and Olympic sport, you'll be right in there.
10. You get sore for four days after exercising... then you wait a month to exercise again.
This isn't an effective way to gain muscle.
11. You skip stretching because you that would use up the limited energy you have.
Overall, watching the Olympics has just made your self esteem go even lower.
