No one will ever understand your relationship with your brother. One minute you could be fighting and bickering while the next you are hugging it out and talking about your latest life problems. No matter the tears, name-calling, and many choice words later, he is still your brother and would do anything for you.
Unlike any of your close friends, your brother knows your craziness better than anyone else and often times will join you. And while many of the guys in your life come and go, your brother will not (even if he is the reason they go). For those ladies who have a brother, take a moment to smile at these relatable reasons as to why your brother is the best guy in your life.
1. He knows the family drama
It can be embarrassing or even confusing to try and talk to your friends about obscure family situations. Luckily, your brother often feels the same way so you can always talk to him about it.
2. He's the first person you go to with guy problems.
Guys know what guys think. If you have a question, he'll have an answer, and an honest one at that. Often times your brother will just tell you the guy isn't worth your time anyway or that you should just be single and live your life. You'll soon figure out that's the best advice that you've taken from him.
3. His opinion of your new boyfriend means more to you than anyone else's.
Nothing means more to you than if your brother and boyfriend can get along perfectly. If he thinks the guy isn't worth it, whether he treats you terribly or just doesn't fit in, he'll let you know. And this is taken into serious consideration when it comes to staying with the guy.
4. He's protective and always has your back.
5. He'll keep your secrets
"Don't tell mom," is a phrase that is all too familiar and is often the phrase that is taken most seriously and honored between siblings.
6. You can go days without talking and be just fine
Being older and apart from my family, I don't talk to my brothers every day, and to a fault, I find that I go a week without saying anything to them. Fortunately, our relationship gives us that ability to go for days without talking and pick up right where we left off when we do.
7. When you don't believe in yourself, he does.
College is rough, and it takes a strong mind to get through it. When you don't have that self-confidence, it's nice to know that someone does. Brothers encourage you to do your best and believe that you can. They help you focus on what is important and remind you of your greater priorities in life; yourself.
8. They're blunt with you and they do not care.
They know you better than anyone else and will be honest with you about everything.
9. You both share inside jokes.
Together you both can be idiots and joke about the dumbest things and still laugh at them for years after that.
10. They're the best people to drink with.
It's nice to get to the age where you and your brothers can go out together or drink at home and talk about every dumb decision you've made. You also won't be alone the next morning with a hangover at a family brunch.
11. He's the most reliable person you have in your life.
When you're crying about life and need someone to talk to, he'll always pick up his phone. There is no one I'd rather talk to about my stresses, my sadness, my anger and my happiness. Every emotion has and will continue to be shared with my best friends I grew up with.
At the end of the day, there is one person a girl can count on. For myself specifically, I luckily have two people I can talk to. Both of my brothers are my role models, my advice givers, my best friends and my family, and to them I say thank you for everything.
