Everyone has their own obsession, for some it's pizza and for some it's exploring the mall. This goes out to those of us who are addicted to a family member, specifically the hairy slobbery one that begs for table scraps (and no, I don't mean my brother). Here's to you, my fine fluffy friend.
1) Your dog is one of the main reasons you’re excited for break
Let’s be honest -- the worst part of college is the fact that you have to leave them behind; it breaks your heart a little more each time. This is a major reason why everyone loves to come home for breaks. Home cooked meals being second of course.
2) You admire their happiness and even their sass
Your dog has attitude and style, and most of the time it reflects your own. So what’s not to love?!
3) You have to clarify when speaking that your best friend is in fact your dog
When I said I spent all summer working or doing nothing with Bailey, you misunderstood. She’s not my friend from high school, she’s actually my dog.
4) You have more pictures of your dog than of yourself
And even the ones that you do have of yourself include them as well, and let’s be honest they definitely take the spotlight.
5) You proceed to show these pictures to everyone
Then you inevitably get angry and upset when they aren’t as amused as you or don't see the obvious point that your dog is absolutely perfect.
6) You wear the hair and slobber as a badge of honor
Some view it as an annoying hassle, you view it as proof you are loved. Nothing stops you from wearing black, so you have to embrace it.
7) You must pet every dog you meet and become best friends with its owner
You must be friends with every dog you cross paths with and then use this time to brag to the owner about your own dog thus leading back to a repeat of #5.
8) You surround yourself with fellow addicts
You are not alone, you will not allow yourself to befriend a dog-hater, and they shall be shunned. And your closest friends will help you shun them. Because if your friends don't like dogs, then you probably need new friends.
9) You have wondered if your dog loves you as much as you love them
Dogs seeing their owners has the same chemical reaction that humans do when they are falling in love. So wonder no farther, they do love you. But as for the obsessed with you part... you'll have to take that up with them.
10) You constantly ask “What do you think they're doing?” to anyone who will listen
It’s easy to wonder what they are doing when you aren’t around; napping? eating? playing? The answer is always something adorable.
11) You know no matter what they’re your most loyal and trusted friend
Dogs are known for their loyalty and friendship and rightfully so. When all else fails they have your back and have big ears to listen to your problems. No matter what ruff decisions you have to make in life, they'll be there to cuddle and their licker will be on stand by.
So fret not my canine addicts; because there are much worse things in life to be obsessed with than these kind, lovable, and adorable creatures. And if these signs don't apply to you...it's time to get a puppy and learn how it feels to fall in love.
