11 Secretly Spooky Halloween Songs

It's that time of the year again! Jack-o-lanterns, black cats and spooky ghosts. October is upon us, and there's nothing like some spooky jams to get you into the Halloween spirit. Not everyone loves this holiday, and I've annoyed my fair share of roommates and family members with The Nightmare Before Christmas soundtrack. In order to bring a more secretive spookiness to my playlist, I opt for songs that aren't overtly about Halloween, but still satisfy my eerie song cravings. If eleven songs isn't enough, click here for even more creepy tunes!

1. Creep by Radiohead

Because at the end of the day, we are all creepy in our own way.

2. Cannibal by Kesha

The only pop song I've ever heard that references Jeffery Dahmer. Definitely not good for a kid's Halloween party.

3. I Want Candy by the Strangeloves

One of the goals of Halloween night: get lots of sugary sweets!

4. Demons by Imagine Dragons

What's scarier than facing off with Satan's evil spawn? Actually facing your inner demons. I'd rather fight the former.

5. Black Widow by Iggy Azalea ft. Rita Ora

It isn't Halloween if there aren't a couple of creepy crawlies skulking around.

6. The Devil Went Down to Georgia by Primus

Who taught Satan to play the fiddle? The world may never know.

7. Black Magic by Little Mix

Bubblegum pop with a witchy twist!

8. Midnight City by M83

Technically the witching hour is between 3 and 4 AM, but midnight will do for those of us who like going to bed at a decent hour.

9. Hungry Like the Wolf by Duran Duran

Exactly how hungry are wolves?

10. Bad Blood by Taylor Swift

A vampire's worst nightmare: bad blood.

11. My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark by Fall Out Boy

Nothing escapes the all seeing eye of Fall Out Boy.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
