11 Reasons You're Excited For Fall

There's no season better or more pronounced than fall, and its perfection is just right around the corner.

11 Reasons You're Excited For Fall

11. Fall Foliage.

The colors of fall are definitely one of the best things about this time of the year: Deep reds and warm oranges cover the trees and the ground as they seemingly take over every backdrop of this colorful season.

10. Clocks go back.

Every single morning that I have to wake up and go to school always makes me wish that I could just sleep a little longer, or hit the snooze button one more time. Luckily for us, Fall is the one time of the year where our dreams come true, and also last a little bit longer - on one special day, we get to set the clocks back for that magical hour and sleep in!

9. Pumpkin Everything.

Pumpkin pies, pumpkin spice lattes, pumpkin bread - seriously, could there be a better time to have pumpkin? But there are some humans who don't like pumpkin, and since pumpkin really isn't the only seasonal delicacy that makes fall the best time of the year, it's pretty great that we also get apple cider, vegetable soups, candied yams, and hot chocolate.

8. Homecoming

With fall also comes trips to the football stadium, tailgating, block parties, semi-formals, parades, and honestly just a million reasons to celebrate. What could possibly be better than this?

7. Autumn Holidays.

Halloween. Thanksgiving. Columbus Day. I mean, you could even include Black Friday in this list (and my birthday, but that's for a different article). Autumn has a million reasons to sit at home, or go out in costumes, and spend time with family and friends and have a few days off from school... or to watch some scary movies in the dark.

6. Apple Orchards and Pumpkin Patches.

Going through the apple orchards and pumpkin patches are just two of the greatest activities that you can partake in during the fall, and somehow, an apple is always just a little bit sweeter when you get to take it home from the orchard. Similarly, a pumpkin is a little more thrilling to carve when you've picked the exact "canvas" you wanted.

5. Food.

Do I really need to make a descriptive list here? Everything about fall is perfect, but once you chime in some turkey and cranberry sauce on Thanksgiving, completed only with every flavor of pie you've ever imagined, fall is just bound to find it's way to your heart... or stomach. At least you don't have to worry about your bikini body for another nine months.

4. Most fashionable attire.

Cardigans, beanies, chunky sweaters, leggings, riding boots, flannels, spirit jerseys -- you name it, you can probably get away with wearing it this fall. Fall has the most diverse and unparalleled clothing options of all of the seasons. And I mentioned before that it has the perfect backdrop for all of your impromptu photo shoots, right?

2. Fireplaces and Bonfires.

The weather starts getting colder, and it starts getting darker a little earlier in the day, which makes it more than acceptable to sit outside around a fire and drink hot chocolate, or to cuddle up beside a fireplace with your favorite book.

1. Crisp weather.

For this one, I'll steal a few words from the writing queen herself J.K. Rowling, "Autumn seemed to arrive suddenly that year. The morning of the first September was crisp and golden as an apple." Now, I don't know about you, but for me, those words just seem to sum up everything that's perfect about fall.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
