What started in 1969 as an organization to support alternative arts and education has evolved into Oregon's most prized summer fair. Be sure to relish in the many festivities that the Oregon Country Fair (OCF) offers during the second week of July!

Here are 11 reasons why OCF is an unforgettable summer extravaganza that will enrich your life.

1. It's a village in the woods.

Set deep in the woods of Veneta, Oregon, you are basically in a hobbit/fairy/renaissance dreamland.

2. Good vibrations.

It is a collective of all that is good about Oregon (leotards and all).

3. It's a three-day event.

Off-site camping spots are available just miles away because one day is not long enough time to soak in all of the goodness.

4. You get to dress up (or not...)

You will see some of the most creative costumes ranging from elaborately designed fairy masks with matching wings to, well, absolutely nothing (maybe some paint). It is surely an experience to remember.

5. Artisan Booths

Unique and often locally-made crafts are for sale from over 700 vendors. Goods available include natural oils and perfumes, jewelry, leather accessories, clothing, fantasy horns and much, much more.

6. Delicious Food

Over 75 food booths sell mouth-watering, homemade meals of many different types.

7. It's family-friendly

Specific events geared toward children are available for the youngsters including costume making, face painting, and parades.

8. Underground Music

Listen to some of the Oregon's best rising musicians as well as OCF's returning favorites all of whom are spread across 19 different stages.

9. Glitter

Want to feel cute while you're hula hooping in the drum circle? Put some glitter on. Are you a fairy who needs some fairy dust? Use glitter. Hungry? Glitter. It is the answer to all of life's problems for three days straight (although it remains stuck to you for about the next year).

10. "Altared Space"

"Altared Space" sets aside room for meditation and restorative prayer. It's one of the most beautifully decorated spaces throughout the fair! With so many different areas to see, it can be difficult to find a particular one. How would you get there? Just follow the smell of the burning incense and sage!

11. Freedom

The tall flags bordering the exiting road represent yet another year spent in the midst of your fair family. You're free to be who you are and embrace the 1970s remnants that live on in the woods of Veneta, Oregon.

The Oregon Country Fair is a must-go event. Come to the Oregon Country Fair of 2016 on July 7, 8, and 9 for a banjo-pickin', bare-footed, hippie-lovin' good time.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
