I'm sure many of you, like me, are getting ready to go back to school and are absolutely thrilled about it! No? Well why not? Here are eleven reasons why going back to school does not have to suck.
1. Syllabus Week
If you are a college student, most of the time during the first week of classes the professor just goes over the syllabus and does not typically assign too much homework unless they are absolute pure evil.
2. Catching up with old friends
During the summer, you always end up losing touch with some of your school friends no matter how much you talk about making plans to hang out during the break. It is always good to reconnect with your school squad who you often share the latest memes with.
3. Freebies
Often during the first week of college classes free food, t-shirts, and other goodies are given out. Make sure to take advantage of those. Especially the food.
4. Starting a new routine
I don't know about you but most of my summer was spent working and I am ready to change things up. I'm sure the whole school routine will get tiring eventually but at least it'll be fresh for a little while.
5. Being a year closer to graduation
Every year you begin school is another year closer to graduating. That's good right? *glances out to the all so glamorous horizon of adulthood*
6. Autumn
Going back to school indicates the ending of summer and the beginning of the best season of the year, Autumn! Bring on cooler temperatures, Halloween, leaves changing colors, and most importantly flannels.
7. Expanding your mind
I don't know about you, but I love learning new things. As a biology major, I have taken some pretty interesting classes such as microbiology and zoology that I absolutely geeked out over. Relish in learning new and fascinating things in and outside the classroom this semester!
8. Buying/gathering school supplies
This is probably the nerdiest reason someone has ever come up with, but I love smell of fresh, new notebook paper and breaking out an unused mechanical pencil.
9. Football
The fall semester of school also comes with the ultimate distraction: FOOTBALL! Whether it be your local high school/college team or a professional NFL team, you have to pumped for it after a long wait since last February.
10. School events
Whether it be pep rallies, sporting events, or movie nights, school events are always a good time to hang out with friends and meet new people. They are also proven to boost the enjoyment students experience while attending school.
11. Getting exercise
More than likely this summer you have not moved around too much due to spending some quality time with your old pal netflix. Don't fret! School comes with free cardio as you scurry from class to class in less than 10 minutes and attempt to climb three flights of stairs and then try your hardest to hide your heavy breathing from your fellow classmates when you reach your classroom on the third floor.
If these reasons do not pump you up for school, fear not! There are only give or take 80 days until winter break. Good luck, may the force be with you, and may the odds be ever in your favor!
