11 Reasons Why You Should Go To Create LV
Michael Tribett

One of my biggest struggles as a small town graduate coming to Las Vegas was finding somewhere to belong. I compared my “future somewhere” to be something like my home church back in Bullhead City. I attended City Bible Church in Bullhead City, Arizona and finding a new church/community to call home was extremely challenging. I bounced from church to church, never really staying consistent anywhere between going to school full-time and working. Above all, I was frustrated with how little resources churches had in Las Vegas for college-aged students, until I found Create LV.

Whether you’re a young adult Christian or someone exploring questions/answers, here are 11 reasons why you should go to Create LV.

1. Create LV is specifically designed and focused on young adults aged 18 to 29.

The most puzzling and disappointing thing I discovered while living in Las Vegas is the extreme lack of outreach for college-aged adults. There is so much emphasis on middle school and high school outreach, but then there is this enormous gap. We go from high school groups to 30-year-old married couples with children. What’s up with that? Twenty's can be the most life-changing, impactful, devastating years of someone’s life—why are churches not making this outreach a top priority? According to the Pew Research Center, only 38 percent of millennials born from 1990 to 1996 say they pray daily or attend a church on a regular basis. There is a 75 percent chance, according to US Today, that a young adult 18 to 23 will leave the church even if they have been attending their whole life. Though colleges “welcome” students of faith, tolerance for secularism is far more prominent and highlighted in higher education environments. Most Christians who start college have a 90 percent chance of leaving college, no longer having faith. If there is no church community for people 18 to 29, then these numbers don’t surprise me.

Create LV is a powerful vehicle for college-aged young adults to engage together. Not only is it all about young adults and addressing this stage of life, but it’s ran by people of that age speaking about Jesus. Relatability to one another is a constant at Create LV.

2. The worship music is lit.

This is not the traditional Sunday hymns gig (Not that there is anything wrong with hymns). But Create LV has an electric band that plays with passion and awakens a unity of love for Christ. These musicians and singers are incredibly talented and they can impact a room just by the beat of their sound.

3. “Don’t Stress the Dress”

There is no dress code! We want you to come as you are and for who you are! Create is more focused on connecting with you than trippin’ out on the kind of clothes you wear.

4. The emphasis and importance of community.

It’s really easy to get busy and disconnected within the culture we live in. But more importantly, it’s easy to get isolated and lonely when you’re battling life’s punches and you don’t have anyone lifting you up. Community, whether you’re Christian or still searching, is a vital part of growth. The worst human emotion is loneliness, because it was not how humans were designed to be. We were made to have an authentic relationship with God and other people. Create LV has birthed a community that has built thousands of relationships amongst people who may have never crossed paths if it wasn’t for this ministry.

5. Breakouts

This is probably the biggest highlight of Create LV. Breakouts happen after the message is over. Whoever gave the message will conclude in prayer and afterward will give instructions with how the breakouts work. The whole room gathers in groups of 6 to 7 people with each group having one breakout leader. The breakout leader facilitates discussion questions that give everyone in the room an opportunity to talk about the message they just heard. If I had a dollar for every time someone came to a church service and left with questions unanswered, I’d be loaded. This not only leaves room to dissect your questions with others, but also to build relationships with people you identify with over time.

6. Because free pizza?

Yup, FREE. After every breakout, Create LV has delicious pizza waiting for you. For those of you that understand the struggle, that’s a free meal right there!

7. “Oh, you guys don’t just go to church together?”

Create LV is always planning fun things to do! They’ve made hiking trips, park day (playing volleyball at Sunset, barbecuing), pool parties, bonfires and more.

8. Create LV is a vehicle to finding the home church meant for you.

Many people who have heard about Create were currently not going to a home church. However, this community group emphasizes the importance of having a home church and giving people resources so they find the right church for them. Because this is a community group, not a church alone. We hone in on the need to find a church you connect with. Create is an outreach group for young adults, but should not be your only time spent in community.

9. Feeling called? Create LV has opportunities to serve.

If you feel God is putting a weight on your heart to get involved, then Create LV can help you out with that! There are chances to serve in the band, leading breakouts, greeting, set up tear down crew and technical tasks.

10. Create LV is on Tuesday at 7 p.m.

Hopefully, by this point you’re pretty tempted to come to our awesome community, so let’s talk about when it actually takes place! Create LV is hosted at South Hills Church on Tuesday nights at 7 p.m. This is perfect for those of you, like me, who have to work on weekends with crazy, busy schedules. Altogether, the service is about an hour-and-a-half.

11. Also, Jesus and stuff.

Create LV has Gospel-centered preaching. Our team at Create LV is always open to any questions someone may have about the Bible or God. We believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God who died for our sins and beat death by rising from the dead, allowing us to be saved through his sacrifice. If we want to learn and become more like Jesus, then we need to have relationships, treat others with love and share the wonderful truth of our Lord.

If you’re seeking answers or want a place that’s truly authentic, a place where you can engage God and others, then Create LV is perfect for you. Hope to see you next Tuesday!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
