Let’s be honest, going out is fun, but sometimes the pregame for your night is better than the party you plan to attend. While you might not be living Project X at the pregame, the experience offers less drama and less puke.
1. You always have control over the AUX at the pregame.
Sometimes the music at the party, well, sucks. Luckily, pregaming at your place means you have total control over the tunes. The beauty of this is that you can jump from intense dubstep to a Gwen Stefani throwback, and nobody questions it.
2. It’s just you and your friends.
The unfortunate reality is that going out means seeing all walks of life on campus. From exes to monster roommates, you never know who you might bump into. Thankfully, the pregame consists of you and your best friends, so there’s no chance of a mid-party brawl.
3. Things rarely get too sloppy.
Luckily, the shots start off slowly, and so do the mixed drinks, so nothing gets too crazy at the pregame. At the party, it can get old watching all the puking, drunk falls and regretful dancing. The pregame is just fun and (drinking) games — no sloppiness.
4. The pictures at the pregame are always better.
Everyone loves to snap pictures of themselves and their friends when they go out, but unfortunately, dark basements and booze-soaked floors don’t make for the best profile pictures. Pictures taken at the pregame are always better. Chances are that the house has the perfect photo spot, so it’s easy to get those best friend photos without tripping over people and scouting the least drunk friend to take the photos.
5. You can actually hear your friends.
From frat parties to sports houses, bars to clubs, either the music or the people at the party are always too loud. You’ll constantly find yourself screaming in your friend's ear, “CAN WE GO TO THE BATHROOM?” At the pregame, you can have normal conversations without straining a vocal cord.
6. You choose what you drink.
In college, we seem to find ourselves subject to that mystery juice they offer at just about every party. Sadly enough, the next upgrade is a lukewarm keg. At the pregame, it’s your party and you choose what you drink making both you and your stomach a little bit happier.
7. There are always guaranteed snacks.
Chances are that you're starting your night at either your place or a friends meaning there's a cupboard full of food with your name on it. Instead of sneaking a slice of bread or a bag of chips into your purse at the party and making a run for it, the pregame has free food — an undeniable pro.
8. You can still change before going out.
We all love to look our best when we go out, and the pregame gives you time for those extra adjustments before leaving the house. Whether your friend tells you to rethink the shirt you're wearing or to switch out your shoes, it's likely that you’ll have options for a change of clothes at the pregame house.
9. There aren’t cops at the pregame.
The pregame never gets too crazy, so you don’t have to worry about the fun being cut short. In reality, the pregame's just a whole lot safer and helps you to avoid those awkward conversations with your mom the next morning.
10. There’s never a line for the bathroom.
There are few things worse than a full bladder matched by a full bathroom. The lines at the party are always long, and nobody likes hovering over a toilet covered in vomit. At the pregame, the bathrooms are a little cleaner. Likewise, you don’t have to make the uncomfortable choice of whether to relieve yourself in the great outdoors or in a 4-foot by 4-foot bathroom with your three best friends.
11. The pregame is on your time, so you can start and stop whenever you please.
Nothing’s more annoying than having to guess when the best time to head to the party is, especially when you don’t even know if the owners are letting people in. Luckily, the pregame begins and ends whenever you’d like.
College is all about spending your spare time with the people in your closest circle. So make some time to spend together before those crazy nights out because the pregame never disappoints. At the end of it all, it’s likely that you’ll remember those moments hanging out with your best friends over the crowded basements covered in neon paint.
