Even though fall officially started about a week ago, I personally don’t count fall as started until October rolls around. Why? I feel as though September isn’t fall enough. Usually, the weather is still fairly warm in September and hot breezes have not yet been replaced with chilled ones. However, by the time October comes about, the air has definitely changed and so have the trees. Of all four seasons, fall is definitely a favorite of mine. Yeah, summer nights are magical but there is something about fall that is completely and utterly romantic. Even though part of December is considered ‘winter,’ I think that the months of October, November and December are the best months of the year; here’s why:
1. The air is cool and crisp
No more sweltering heat or unbearable cold.
2. Fall colors are the warmest
Few things are more beautiful than watching the leaves change from green to the many shades of orange, red and yellow.
3. Warm layers
I’d pick jeans and a cute sweater over shorts and a tank top any day. Plus, there are so many different styling options.
4. Warm beverages
Yes, I love a good iced coffee but I love the feeling of a nice, warm mug of chai in my hands. Some beverages are best enjoyed hot and fall is the perfect time to do that.
5. It's more socially acceptable to wear darker colors
My favorite color is black and I also love to wear burgundy. I’m not a fan of the bright colors and patterns that fill the racks of local department stores in the summer.
6. Bonfires
What better way to warm up on a chilly night then having a nice bonfire with family and friends.
7. Football
8. Apple everything
Apple picking, apple fest, apple cider, apple pie, bobbing for apples.
9. All of the best holidays are one right after the other
Halloween is just one giant, sugar-filled party. All of the best food is served on Thanksgiving. Christmas is just magical. And New Year’s Eve is filled with the hopes and promises that the new year will bring.
10. All of the baked goods
Apple pie, pumpkin roll, sugar cookies, gingerbread men.
11. The smells
I associate fall with crisp, cool air and candles that smell like apple and cinnamon.
