This week, the movie even fansies across the country have been waiting for is finally being released in theaters for three days, NEWSIES! Multiple cast members from the beloved show returned to film this amazing event back in September 2016, and the world will finally know how the final product that will preserve NEWSIES for the rest of time.
Here are my 11 reasons why I'm so excited for NEWSIES!
1. The original Jack, Katherine, Davey, and Crutchie are back
Name a better squad, I'll wait.
2. Jeremy Jordan
I honestly never thought I would see him play this role again. I'm already crying tears of joy.
3. Andrew Keenan-Bolger singing "Letter from the Refuge"
This song was added to the show for the tour following the closing on Broadway. AKB, the original Crutchie, gets to sing this for his first time!
4. So many Newsies on one stage
They combined the best of the Broadway cast with the best of the tour cast. There have never been this many Newsies on stage at once.
5. Jeremy Jordan
Wait, did I mention him already?
6. Tickets to a movie are cheaper than to a Broadway show
This won't break the bank (even though I plan on seeing it all three days it's in theaters)
7. The view will be great no matter where you sit
Best part about being at the movies.
8. Jeremy Jordan
Ok, seriously, how can you not be excited about the OG JACK KELLY returning for this movie event?!
9. Seeing it with my friends for their first time
Most of my friends have never gotten to experience NEWSIES like I have, and this movie lets them and millions of others finally get that chance.
10. "Once and For All"
This number is amazing, and it's more relevant now than ever before. Plus, seeing all those Newsies on the set in that number is going to be incredible!
11. Knowing NEWSIES is captured forever
When NEWSIES closed on Broadway on August 24, 2014, Tom Schumacher, President of Disney Theatrical Productions, said in the closing night speech that not a day will go by where NEWSIES is not playing somewhere in the world. Most fansies (NEWSIES fans) were hoping that a proshot of the show would be recorded before closing, but instead a tour was announced. And to most of the fansies' disbelief, they grew to love the toursies (NEWSIES tour cast) just as much as the Broadway cast. Having both casts come together for this amazing movie event is exactly what Tom Schumacher must have planned for all along, and it's exactly what was needed for NEWSIES to truly live on forever.
NEWSIES will play in theaters across the country on February 16, 18, and 22!
