If your childhood was anything like mine, you know things would be a completely different story without the presence of your older brothers. Even though most of the time you wanted to murder them, you also realize now you couldn't live without them. Through all the laughs and even the fights they developed you into the unique human you are today. If you have older brothers you most likely know what these mean and hopefully it draws you back to a time in your younger years.

1. You Know How to Fight

You were basically raised up in chokeholds, arm bars and dog piles. You know all the moves and have learned to fight your way out of any hold.

2. Sports Were and Still are Your Life

Sitting through hundreds of baseball games and being forced to watch ESPN and Sportscenter will make anyone appreciate sports on a whole different level. If it weren't for your brothers, you wouldn't be screaming at the screen whenever your favorite team plays or rush back home to catch the last few innings of the baseball game.

3. You'll Never End Up with the Wrong Guy

Having older brothers makes the decision process for picking a boyfriend a bit more difficult. You know bringing home a loser will lead to months of your brothers teasing you, or worse, your brothers teasing your boyfriend.

4. They Always Tell it Like it is

You know that your older brothers have absolutely no problem telling you that you're being annoying or acting stupid. Luckily, this shapes you into being a more mature and aware person in the end.

5. The Dress Code Always Applies

Don't even think about leaving the house in that shirt. You dress like a boy or you stay at home. Of course it's still fun to walk around the house in a sports bra just to gross them out.

6. They Push You to be a Better Person

They add an extra push to stay on track and not make the mistakes that they made. Even though they don't want to admit they want you to be successful, they make sure you know if you have been sidetracked.

7. You're the Cool Kid as a Freshman

"Oh you're Ryan and Nick's sister?!" Damn right.

8. Literally Nothing Grosses You Out

You have heard and seen it ALL: farts, burps, groans, watching TV with their hands in their pants. You name it, you've seen them do it.

9. They are Always There to Protect You

Whether it's guys or girls picking on you, their brotherly instincts kick in and they won't let anyone mess with their baby sister. They always make you feel comfortable and that nothing and no one will get to you and harm you.

10. They Basically Shaped Your Sense of Humor

You know all of their dirty jokes, inside jokes, and jokes they wouldn't want others to know they joked about. You understand their sarcasm and quiet mumbles under their breath. Luckily for you, you developed the same sense of humor and if any of your friends see you interacting with your brothers they instantly get to see where you get it from.

11. They are a Forever Support System Through Life's Curveballs

Friends will come and go, your parents will piss you off and life takes you through all sorts of problems, but brothers are forever. Even though you may not talk every day, you know you can send them a text or see them when you come home and they are going to be the same brothers you grew up with and cherish.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
