With the political race that is swirling all around us, it is important that each United States citizen casts a vote. This goes for both the primaries and when the presidential election comes around. I was never too invested in politics until I became a college student. With a celebrity trying to become president and #feelingthebern, it is crucial that each person becomes educated in each presidential candidate, not just the ones who go viral on Twitter or Facebook. Keep in mind that it is to each their own opinion, and you can't force your beliefs on someone and vice versa. Listed below are reasons why you should consider voting.
1. It's a basic American right.
A lot of people take advantage of practicing the right to vote. As an American citizen, it is your duty to do your part and cast your vote!
2. If you choose to vote (or don't), it determines the future of our country.
Whether you chose to vote or not, the outcome will determine the way the country is run, along with how your future will be.
3. College students are an essential key in every election.
College students are targeted at the most when it comes to elections. At this age, you are wanting someone to fight for the things that'll benefit others and yourself.
4. If you're an adult (18+), you should live like one.
5. There were various people who fought for the right to vote.
Having the right to vote wasn't as accessible as it is today, especially for women. Make what they fought for worth it by taking part in the election process with your vote.
6. It is a more mature way of complaining with integrity.
If you don't like another candidate, you can fight this by casting your vote for your choice so that person doesn't win.
7. You will be setting an example for the younger generation.
When they see you vote, they will want to be able to when they reach that age. Also, seeing someone at a younger age being open with their views will set an example for those who aren't sure on their political views.
8. The excitement of casting your vote!
9. The anticipation of waiting for the outcome.
10. You can meet new people.
At the polls, you can meet people as you wait or even before then you can meet people with the same political views as you!
11. Your vote does matter!
With all of this in mind, please keep in mind that you should educate yourself before entering a voting poll. Don't vote for someone because someone else told you to or because you aren't too invested in politics. Your vote matters more than you know. Who knows, that vote could be what keeps America on top!
