As the end of the semester draws near, I can’t help but think about my wonderful roommate and all that she has done for me this year. From studying with me through all hours of the night to taking care of me when I was sick or hurt, my roomie has been with me through it all. This list would go on forever if I thanked her for all of the things that she has done for me this year, so here are the top 11 reasons why I’m thankful for her and her crazy self.
1. Thank you for always bringing me food.
You always know that when I’m hungry, cranky, upset, or stressed to just bring me food and I’ll eventually turn back into my normal, sassy self.
2. Thank you for not judging my awful singing voice.
There were many nights that I would look up to see you sitting across the room as I sang “What Do You Mean” by Justin Bieber for the tenth time that night. Instead of telling me to be quiet or pick a different song, you would start to jam out with me. We should have made a demo ‘cause I’m pretty sure that we would be famous by now if we did.
3. Thank you for not judging me when I roll out of bed lookin' crazy every morning.
You’ve definitely seen me when I’ve been lookin’ great ... and not-so-great. Thanks for not judging me and for knowing that I’ll be back to lookin’ fabulous after rushing around at breakneck speed to get ready.
4. Thank you for constantly encouraging me.
You are always there for me no matter what. You know that I’m a worrier and that I consider anything that goes wrong to be the end of the world. Even though you know that I’ll still find something else to worry about, you always try to calm my spirit by reminding me that no matter what happens, it is all part of God’s plan. Your encouragement definitely comes in handy during finals week when you know that I’m likely to be a hot mess.
5. Thank you for not judging me.
This is for all of the times that I wanted fried chicken or chicken nuggets for the third time in a week and you didn’t bat an eye.
6. Thank you for having random dance parties with me.
Some of my favorite memories from this year are all of the times that we took study breaks and danced around are room lookin’ like fools. Seriously, with our sweet moves and our amazing voices, we will be famous in no time.
7. Thank you for not whining when I refuse to go out.
You know that I’m a workaholic and that I always take on more than I should. Even though we don’t go out and do a lot of things that normal college girls do, you never whine and know that when I say “I’m busy” that I’m not avoiding you. I just probably have one billion and one things to do that night before my 9 a.m. class the next morning.
8. Thank you for praying with me.
One of the things that I love about you is your heart for God and the fact that in all circumstances you turn to Him. You always put your faith in Him and when life starts to get tough, you take the time out of your day to spend time with me and pray about whatever is going on.
9. Thank you for laughing at all of my jokes.
After living with me for just a short time, you know that I like corny jokes that no one else thinks are funny. Regardless of whether you think they’re funny or not, you always laugh and smile when I tell them — no matter how many times I’ve told them. Bless you, child.
10. Thank you for knowing how to read my facial expressions.
Girl, if I vocalized every thought that popped into my head, you know that the sass would be too much for other people to handle. That’s why I appreciate the fact that when something wild is going on or that person from one of my classes that gets on my LAST nerve walks by, you know exactly what I’m thinking and I don't have to vocalize it.
11. Most of all, thank you for being my best friend.
After living together, we’ve learned a lot about each other and we’ve had some great times together. I wouldn’t trade our first year of being roomies for anything in the world. You know me so well and I am so thankful to have a friend like you that is ready to take on the world with me. Thank you for everything you’ve done and continue to do for me. Living with you this year has been life-changing and I can’t wait to take on this next year with you. Here’s to another year that will be full of laughs, studying, fried chicken, roomie dates, singing too loud, and awesome dance parties.
