11 Reasons I'm Going To Miss First Lady Michelle Obama

The fall of 2016 marks the end of the Obama era. As Obama heads toward the end of his second term in office, I have come to the realization that I will miss not only the Obamas as a family but most specifically, First Lady Michelle Obama. It has been a privilege to watch a strong, empowering, down to earth First Lady navigate the political, social and economic realm in the United States. Here are the top 11 reasons I'm going to miss Michelle Obama.

1. She takes her role as a mother seriously.

Before she is the First Lady of the United States (FLOTUS), she is first and foremost a mother. She acknowledges and highlights the hard work and dedication that all mothers put into their children every single day.

2. She serves as a role model for women and girls all over the world.

She encourages women worldwide to pursue their dreams regardless of who or what stands in their way.

3. She wants Americans to be healthy and she's starting with the children.

In 2010, Michelle Obama launched the "Let's Move!" initiative to reduce childhood obesity. The program teaches parents as well as their children how to lead a healthy lifestyle.

4. She speaks her mind and in doing so, drops nuggets of wisdom on us all.

5. She wants women and girls worldwide to have the same opportunities for education.

Having an education in America is completely different than having an education in another country. Michelle Obama has made it her mission to encourage females worldwide to pursue their education to not only create a better world for themselves but or their families as well.

6. She cares about veterans and their families.

In 2011 Jill Biden and Michelle Obama launched the "Joining Forces" campaign to ensure that service members, veterans, and their families have the tools they need to re-assimilate themselves into mainstream American society and lead successful and comfortable lives.

7. She wants to inspire young Americans to push themselves to achieve higher education.

As a Princeton and Harvard alumnae, Michelle Obama knows how important education is. Education is the key to freedom. By encouraging all of the youth in America to pursue their education, she's encouraging our youth to be free and self- sustaining.

8. She's not afraid to let loose and be herself.

9. Her impeccable fashion sense.

10. How she deals with those that bring her down.

Instead of lashing back at those that brought her down, Michelle Obama gave this great advice. It's not worth wasting your time on those that want to see you fail.

11. Her relationship with Barack Obama.

It has truly been a pleasure to watch how in love the Obamas are with each other.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
