7 Reasons Why College Friends Are The Best Friends

College is a time to find yourself. Some say that high school was the time of their life, but to most people, college is the real time of their lives. And I can't help but agree! College has not only helped me become more independent, but it gave me the best friends that I know I will keep in my life forever. Here are some of the reasons why these friendships differ so much from friendships back at home:

1. Their closet is your closet. You know everything that is hanging up, in their drawers, and hidden underneath their bed.

2. They see every side of you. Good, bad, and weird. They know who you are when you're in a bad mood or in a great mood and don't treat you any different.

3. They force you into having a good time even when you think you don’t want to. It might be a lazy night but they will get you out of bed and not let you go to sleep until 3 a.m.

4. You’ll watch each other do embarrassing things countlessly. Each weekend will be filled with embarrassing stories and embarrassing pictures but you wouldn't want anyone else to be a part of it.

5. You’ll remind them of all their embarrassing things daily.

All these pictures and moments will never be lived down. They will cry with you about eating the crappiest cheapest food. Everyone is in an understanding that they can't eat the way they used to at home. Hot Pockets and frozen burritos are delicacies at school.

6. Leaving your friends from home is easier than leaving your friends from school.

They replace your family when you're homesick. They know how much family means to you, so they will be your family when you need them the most.

7. They’ll swipe you into the dining hall when you’re out of swipes. They’ll distract you from studying during finals' week, which isn't actually always a bad thing. They’re your home away from home.

College friends get you in a way that other people don't. There's something about endless sleepovers, studying, and laughter that makes college friends some of the finest people you will ever meet. They see you the way your family sees you, and they accept you. You appreciate your college friends in a way that only they can understand.

They truly are people you don't want out of your life.

Love you my KDOOMz.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
