Spring break is one of the shortest, but beloved breaks, college students get to have. It may be shorter than the other major breaks, but it is such an awkward amount of time that just when you get used to being home, it’s time to go back to school again. It may not seem like a big deal, but it really is a tease for summer and leaves you with some of these thoughts as you go back to school for the next two months.
1. Do I really have to go back to class again?
Need I say more?
2. How am I supposed to fix my sleep schedule?
After having over a week off of probably going out at home or on vacation somewhere your sleep schedule is definitely messed up. Say hello to staying up until 4 a.m. before class and then taking two naps after and then repeating that cycle until the end of the semester. Let’s face it, there’s no fixing it now. Your sleep schedule is a lost cause.
3. How am I supposed to sleep in general?
Say goodbye to your big, comfy home bed and say hello to your favorite extra-long twin mattress on slats of wood and risers!
4. Is it summer yet?
It’s warm like summer, but there’s still class? Whose idea was this?
5. Do I really have to eat dining hall food again?
You were just off for over week and were probably feasting on your Mom’s home-cooked meals like royalty and now not only do they expect you to go back to class but you have to eat the food there too?! This is just becoming outrageous.
6. I have to take back adult-like responsibilities again?
When you’re back at school you’re parents aren’t there with their wallets to run to the store to grab you razors or snacks or any other small necessities. It’s all on you and your hard-earned yet low bank account again for the next two months.
7. Do I have to share?
Sure you probably shared clothes and food with your friends over break, but now you’re back to your tiny living space where you have to remember how to cohabitate and share pretty much everything again.
8. That project is due this week?
Work seems to pile up even when you’re on break. It seems like professors just love making things due when they know you’ve mentally checked out the most.
9. Wait…so is it summer yet?
10. Do I really need an education?
The answer is yes. You do need an education even though you definitely do not feel like putting in the work now and it sucks, but it’ll be worth it when you’re doing something you love and getting that paper.
11. What’s that noise?
It’s your alarm. Wake up. Real life is back and it’s time to start putting in work again.
This all may seem unbearable now, but just remember you did it last semester and you can do it now. It’s even better this time around because now you’re working for three months of sunshine and no stress. Summer will be here before you know it!
