There was definitely a lot going on at the MTV Video Music Awards this year. Per usual, there will be an outstanding number of memes, things most people didn't notice will now go viral on Twitter, and our lives will never be the same. We saw our fair share of comebacks, has beens, and who's? We also saw, and will probably always see, how music truly does bring us all together despite age, color, size, or shape.
1. Beyonce still kills every performance.
I have to admit, beside my roommates all loving the award show, I was only going to watch the VMAs to see Beyonce perform. She definitely gives her fans all she's got when she is up on the stage. Beyonce is the only person who can destroy a camera during her performance and make me go "YAAAASSSSSSSS" instead of "wow, thats an expensive prop."
2. Nick Jonas is still adorable.
Since "Camp Rock," Nick Jonas has always held my heart in his hands. He seems to be the most gentle of the Jonas Brothers, but Good Lord Almighty, he is spicing it up these days. I never expected the words "throw some bacon on it" to make me want to throw myself at a man.
3. The Chainsmokers and Halsey performance was HOT with a capital H-O-T.
To be honest, I only knew of the Chainsmokers as a duo that made a song here or there before tonight, and I certainly did not know of Halsey. I'm kind of new to the whole pop culture thing. However, after that steamy show, I am The Chainsmokers number one fan. My jaw actually dropped at the passion they exhibited on that stage.
4. MTV only hired DJ Khaled as an emcee for all of our comical relief.
You don't hear a whole lot about DJ Khaled anymore beside the times he becomes a meme. He is pretty much known for his Snapchat preaching these days, and he served a very similar role in the VMAs.
5. Despite previous negative comments, Ariana Grande still chose to perform with Nicki Minaj and they absolutely slayed.
Y'all might remember a few years back when Nicki Minaj and Ariana Grande performed together at the NBA All-Star Game and Ariana Grande received a lot of backlash for her petite figure. The great thing about Ariana is she knows all of us women have different body types and loves shaking her "pretty, cute, petite ass next to Nicki's pretty, big booty." Go her!
6. A lot of people are saying that the VMAs were just a Rihanna concert with an occasional award being given away, and I agree. 
With a total of four performances, Rihanna ran the show. She could have done anything she wanted to do with her time on stage and she chose to do what she does best, have fun. She brings such a great energy to the room, and she definitely lit the night up.
7. Britney is making a comeback.
If you've never wanted to be Britney, you either don't know who she is, or you're lying. She is just as show-stopping as her days starring in "Crossroads." Britney spears will kill it (in a scandalous outfit) until the day she dies.
8. The Final Five Gymnasts are just like us!
These girls are incredible at what they did in The Olympics, but off the mats, they are just like us. Watching them fangirl over hugging Beyonce was a good reminder that we are a lot more like Olympic athletes than we give ourselves credit for.
9. Blue Ivy is an angel.
I imagine Blue Ivy's life as an amazing game of endless dress up. That little girl is so blessed with her parent's wealth, but more importantly their love. I can't wait to see what she's like when she's older!
10. Kanye West does not come with his speeches prepared.
It is no secret that Kanye loves Kanye. Tonight also confirmed that Kanye also loves impromptu speeches. This isn't the first time that he has come on stage with nothing prepared. Kanye has faith in himself that whatever he comes up with on stage will be lyrical gold, which it normally isn't. Hint to everyone out there: speeches are best when rehearsed and, uh, thought about beforehand.
11. WHEN IS DRAKE GOING TO PROPOSE?
Everyone's hearts melted during Drake's speech before handing Rihanna the Vanguard award. He boldly admitted he has been in love with Rihanna for 11 years. That sure is a long time to wait, but she is definitely worth it. After all the sweet words that made us melt into one big puddle, I think everyone was shocked he didn't pop the question. One thing is for sure, Drake is a total sweetheart.
