While it's great to see friends in your Instagram feed, the app can also be a great place for humor and inspiration! Here are my favorite accounts from celebrities and professionals alike:
@radianthuman_
This is an Instagram account devoted to the company of the same name. They provide an aura photography laboratory, meaning they claim to be able to capture your "essence" in a single photograph. The photos featured on the Instagram show portraits of customers surrounded by beautiful, hazy lighting. They do pop-up shops all the time at different boutiques and event spaces around the country. While I'm not sure I believe that this camera really can see auras, the photos are absolutely stunning:
@samalive
This account is run by Sam Fan, who is a freelance photographer living in New York. He takes magnificent, vibrant photos of everything from cityscapes to deep woods. I follow a lot of nature accounts, but this one might be my favorite -- He has an incredible eye, and I feel like I've traveled the world through the lens of his camera.
@ipetthatdog
I stumbled upon this account in one of my insomniac Instagram binges -- and thank goodness I did. I don't know who this guy is, or why he has an account devoted to pictures of him with dogs, but I'm into it. Cute boy and cute dogs? Sold.
@fatherjohnmisty
Josh Tillman, better known in the indie music scene as Father John Misty, is the king of Instagram. Much like his music, he chooses to defy every social norm and just post whatever strikes him as funny or bizarre. If you scroll down far enough, the account is dedicated purely to screenshots from the Sims video game. Genius.
@natgeo
The official Instagram account for National Geographic Magazine. This is the go-to nature Instagram -- inspiring, moving photos of animals, nature scenes, and people in faraway countries. This account turns Instagram into an experience that is equal parts visually appealing and informative!
@picturesoftext
This is an account run by B.J. Novak from The Office. He wrote a book a few years back called "The Book With No Pictures," and it was an international success. This account is a spin-off of sorts of the book, in that he incorporates words into every photo he posts. It's interesting to see what he sees -- Novak has a good eye for catching the unique in the everyday.
@hotdudesreading
My personal favorite Instagram account–Some New Yorker has taken it upon him/herself to take photos of attractive men reading, often on the subway. He/she then posts long, inventive captions about the imagined future with said attractive male. As a fellow lover of intellectual hunks, this Instagram account feels like it was made just for me. Swoon.
@a_seattleite
Okay, perhaps I'm biased because I'm from Seattle, but there really is no place like the Pacific Northwest. While this Instagram is particularly appealing because it brings up sweet nostalgia, the photos are undeniably gorgeous. It's run by Van-Heber Caballero, a fellow Seattleite and professional photographer. When's Christmas break...?
@dilfs_of_disneyland
Pretty self explanatory -- this account is dedicated to fan-submitted photos of attractive dads at Disneyland and California Adventure. Inspirational, really.
@thiswildidea
Run by photographer Theron Humphrey, nearly every photo features his adorable dog. It's equal parts majestic nature scenes and precious canine pal.
@rollingstone
The go-to account for all things celebrity and music-related. Run by someone over in the PR department at the world-famous magazine of the same name, it features interviews, old photographs, and updates in the music world.
