Being a second-semester senior in college is a really weird time. You’re caught in this limbo of trying to have your life together and savoring your last few months of college fun-- doing crazy things because “you’ll never be able to do it again.” Your list of expectations is exponential: go to class, do your homework, attempt to study, write papers, study for the GRE’s, take the GRE’s, apply to grad school, look into possible post-grad job opportunities, network, land said post-grad job, go back home and save money, eventually move out and live happily-ever-after.
Aside from the academic or serious-real-person expectations, you’re also under pressure to have an exciting social life. Senior year is when you make time for those you care about and possibly won’t see after graduation, take advantage of what your college town has to offer and live-it-up young and carefree.
I too, am constantly busy with schoolwork and different organizations. I am also always stressing out about jobs and unsure of what will happen in the future. So for all of you who are in the same boat, I have found some inspirational quotes that might make you feel about yourself, your choices and the road that lies ahead.
1. “The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.”
–Eleanor Roosevelt
2. “I am only one, but still I am one. I cannot do everything, but still I can do something. And because I cannot do everything I will not refuse to do the something that I can do.”
– Hellen Keller
3. “The two most important days in your life are the day you are born and the day you find out why.”
–Mark Twain
4. “Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up.”
–Pablo Picasso
5. “Man often becomes what he believes himself to be. If I keep on saying to myself that I cannot do a certain thing, it is possible that I may end by really becoming incapable of doing it. On the contrary, if I have the belief that I can do it, I shall surely acquire the capacity to do it even if I may not have it at the beginning.”
–Mahatma Gandhi
6. “We must let go of the life we have planned, so as to accept the one that is waiting for us.”
–Joseph Campbell
7. “Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven't found it yet, keep looking. Don't settle. As with all matters of the heart, you'll know when you find it.”
–Steve Jobs
8. “Don’t be afraid to fail. Don’t waste energy trying to cover up failure. Learn from your failures and go on to the next challenge. It’s OK to fail. If you’re not failing, you’re not growing.”
–H. Stanley Judd
9. “Life is 10% what happens to me and 90% of how I react to it.” –Charles Swindoll
10. “Opportunities don’t often come along. So, when they do, you have to grab them.”
–Audrey Hepburn
11. “Believe you can and you're halfway there.”
–Theodore Roosevelt
