The best part of college

11 Friends Everyone Has In College

It's a well known fact that the best thing about college is your friends. When we all go home at Christmas and for the summer, no one misses doing homework or going to their on-campus job. But we all miss our friends. Our friends are our support group. They make us laugh. They're there for us when we cry. And they make life interesting, because they're all so different. Here are 11 types of friends everyone has in college:

1. The roommate

You and your roommate may not be best friends. You might not even hang out in the same social circle. But you don't need to to become close with this person. There's something about sharing a tiny room that brings people together, even if they were perfect strangers when they moved in. If you become friends with your roommate, it will be one of the best friendships you have in college.

2. The friend you love, but couldn't live with

You love this friend to pieces, but you just couldn't live with them. Maybe they're much messier or a lot neater than you are. Maybe they're the kind of person that you need a break from every now and again. Either way, you value this person too much to mess up your friendship by trying to live together.

3. The one you love and could definitely live with

But for some inexplicable reason you don't.

4. The high school crew

You mostly only hang out as a group now when you're all home between semesters. But there are those one or two that you're still really close to and text every day and miss all the time.

5. Your friend's high school friend

So what if you've only met them between 0 and 1 times? Your friend talked about them so much that you felt like I knew them. So when they popped up on "people you may know" of course you friended them! And now your Facebook best friends and share each other's stuff all the time... oops.

6. The friend you met because of your major

The first time you studied together, you got stuff done and both aced the test. Recently, though, it seems to take you guys a lot longer to get through that study guide. But we'd all trade being able to actually study with someone for being the type of friends who laugh so hard you can't get anything done when you're together.

7. The friend you'd make out with

You don't have an actual crush on this friend, just weird, unresolved sexual tension with them. You'd probably have to be pretty drunk to do anything about it though.

8. The one you have a crush on

In a really bad, middle-school kind of way. No matter how much you tell yourself you're fine just being friends, you can't shake the feeling of really, really wanting to be something more.

9. The one you never see

But not because you're not friends. You're super close, they're just always busy with clubs, or work, or a 6 class load, or all of the above. Just makes it even more fun when you do get to hang out.

10. Your lunch date

It's easy to end up eating lunch alone in college, so the friend you have a set lunch date with a couple times every week is always special.

11. Your best friend

This is the friend who's down for anything, whether it be an 11pm trip to Wal-Mart, or a Friday night movie night. You never get tired of each others' company, and you can tell each other anything.

Maybe you only have a few close friends, and the types of friends overlap. Or maybe you have a huge friend group, encompassing even more kinds of friends than these 11. But no matter how many friends you have, they're all special and they all play an important role in your college life and beyond.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
