World renowned superstar and songwriter Taylor Swift told "Vanity Fair" in 2013, "I’ve never thought about songwriting as a weapon, I’ve only thought about it as a way to help me get through love and loss and sadness and loneliness and growing up."

The beauty in songwriting truly comes from the story each song possesses. Whether it's pop, R&B, indie or country, the vulnerability in many songs that songwriters share is what captures the listeners. A melody we can all relate to. With many of the greatest musicians being singer-songwriters, it's time to highlight some up and coming female artists who are making waves in the music industry.

Ryn Weaver - "OctaHate"

"Lost in the riddle you gave me, caught in the middle you played me / I should have known."

This 22-year-old San Diego native's debut album, "The Fool" was released June 16, 2015.

Rachel Platten - "Fight Song"

"I might only have one match -- but I can make an explosion."

A 34-year-old Boston native, Platten's "Fight Song EP" was released May 11, 2015.

Halsey - "Hurricane"

"Don't belong to no city, don't belong to no man. I'm the violence in the pouring rain."

20-year-old New York-native Halsey's debut album "Badlands" will be released August 28, 2015.

Montgomery - "Not Around"

"For once I thought I was doing it right, threw everything I had aside. But all this time you say I could’ve tried."

An Australia native, Montgomery's album, "New Clear War," was released January 28, 2015.

BANKS - "Drowning"

"All of your words, they have been cursed with dishonesty. Take it from the girl you claimed to love."

A 27-year-old Los Angeles native, BANKS debut album "Goddess" will be released September 5, 2015.

Kacey Musgraves - "Biscuits"

"Pourin' salt in my sugar won't make yours any sweeter."

A 26-year-old Texas native, Musgrave's second studio album, "Pageant Material" was released June 23, 2015.

Tori Kelly

"Everybody’s talking ‘bout the next thing, feel like what they got ain’t good enough."

A 22-year-old California native, Kelly's debut album "Unbreakable Smile", was released on June 23, 2015.

Alina Baraz - "Show Me"

"All that you are is all that I need. Rising like the smoke you linger on me."

A Cleveland native, Baraz's "Urban Flora EP" was released May 19, 2015.

SZA - "Warm Winds"

"Dear God, make me a bird, so I can fly far, far, far away."

A 24-year-old New Jersey native, SZA's debut album "Z" was released April 8, 2014.

Elle King - "Ex's & Oh's"

"One, two, three, they gonna run back to me, climbing over mountains and a-sailing over seas."

A 25-year-old Ohio native, King's debut album "Love Stuff" was released February 17, 2015.

Maddie & Tae - "Fly"

"You won’t forget the heavy steps it took to let it go, close your eyes, count to ten, hold your breath and fly."

19-year-olds Maddie and Tae will release their debut album, "Start Here", on August 28, 2015.

...And a special shout out to possible next CEO of Apple and singer-songwriter advocate, Taylor Swift, who helped establish better benefits for musicians who stream their music through Apple Music:

Taylor Swift - "Blank Space"

"Got a long list of ex-lovers, they'll tell you I'm insane. 'Cause you know I love the players and you love the game."

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
