It's that time of the year again, another semester of college is upon us. While being home has its perks, so does being at school, which makes us all feel some type of way, some of which are good and others that aren't so good. So as we start the next academic semester, we're ready to start it with a roller coaster of emotions as well.

1. Seeing all your friends again.

Yeah its only been like 6 weeks (or less if you saw them over break) but you missed them all the same. Now its time to catch up on everything because life changing things can happen in a month and a half.

2. You remember that you have to go to class.

Why did I sign up for this 200 level history class? Unfortunately there are no classes on napping, and lunch doesn't count either.

3. Sleeping in isn't usually part of the routine anymore.

It's 9:30. What an unreasonably early hour to get up. And having any classes or responsibilities before then is almost a crime.

4. Going out on any night of the week is always a possibility.

I mean who goes out on Mondays? But hey rollin' with the squad isn't limited to any schedule.

5. Caf food.

Home cooked meals aren't so easy to come by, and its only a matter of days before you're sick of grilled cheese for every meal.

6. You miss your pets.

You traded your furry friend for your human ones. you're human friends definitely don't cuddle as well and probably won't play fetch.

7. It's too cold to go to class.

The air hurts my face. Walking anywhere outside is something to do at all costs. Leaving your blankets in the morning may be the hardest thing you've ever had to do.

8. You're still looking for that motivation.

The first week back is always the most difficult. Developing a new routine and actually getting all your stuff done, and not falling victim to your own shenanigans is key; and No you can't take that 5 hour nap.

9. You get to live with a roommate again.

You now get to annoy each other 24/7, but it's not like you mind, it's why you still live together right? The roommate antics are half the fun of college. You respect each other's personal space, but sometimes we like to have a little fun at their expense. Or you just keep each other up all night with your real talks that usually start at like 2 am.

10. Having to be responsible for your own messes again.

I mean not that we aren't responsible at home or anything. But now you don't have a dishwasher, your parents won't do your laundry and no one will yell at you to clean up (except for your roommate maybe). Granted you've done this stuff before, its not hard. Its more or less remembering to do it.

11. The awful realization you're basically an adult.

I'm not ready for this. I don't know what I'm doing, I've never been this old before. With each passing day you're just that much closer to the 'real world', It's time to embrace it. It can't be all that bad right? Well since I don't know the answer to that, I'm going to take that 5 hour nap I wanted, to avoid the idea that I'm actually an adult.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
