As the end of the school year looms ahead, I'm filled with excitement, anticipation, and relief. However, more than anything else, I'm filled with tons of stress.
Any college student can tell you that the end of the year is, for lack of a better word, absolute hell. Finals alone are enough to induce a mental breakdown, but every professor also seems to think that the end of April is the perfect time to assign the three deadly P's: papers, projects, and presentations.
As I finish up my first year of college, I can safely say that I've had more homework the past two weeks than I have the during whole rest of my life combined. So, for those who are struggling to get through it, know that you're not alone. If I had advice, I'd offer it here, but there's really only one thing that gets me through this hellish time of year. That thing is looking at cute, fluffy dogs and totally ignoring my troubles.
So, without further ado, here are my top 15 favorite dog accounts on Instagram.
1. The Dogist (@thedogist)
It's kind of like Humans of New York, but for dogs. The Dogist takes pictures of dogs around the city and tells a little story about them. The only thing that's better than looking at dogs is learning about dogs.
2. We Rate Dogs (@weratedogs)
The newly popular account We Rate Dogs allows people to send in pictures of their dogs, which the account reposts with funny captions about what the dog may be doing.
3. Marnie The Dog (@marniethedog)
Marnie has been famous for a few years now (she even has her own shop), but in no way is she overrated. How could you ever get over this cuteness?
4. Munchkin the Teddy Bear (@munchkintheteddybear)
Don't be fooled. As much as Munchkin looks like a real teddy bear, she is a dog. She even has a thermos with her own face on it. Does it get any cuter?
5. Hot Dudes With Dogs (@hotdudeswithdogs)
This one is self-explanatory. How could you not follow an account that features two of the most important things in the universe?
6. Service Dogs of Instagram (@servicedogs.of.ig)
This one will definitely make you feel things. If you want to avoid crying about your homework, cry while looking at service dogs instead. It's more rewarding and you feel less weird doing it.
7. Dogs Being Basic (@dogsbeingbasic)
If you want to see pictures of dogs doing things you do on a daily basis, you've found your place. I've never seen anything more relatable.
8. Susie's Senior Dogs (@susiesseniordogs)
Susie's Senior Dogs features elderly dogs in need of a forever home. It'll show you that older dogs are just as cute as puppies. Just beware, following this account will make you want to adopt every dog on earth (as if I didn't already want to).
9. Kids With Dogs (@kidswithdogs)
If Hot Dudes With Dogs wasn't your cup of tea, maybe Kids With Dogs will be. There's nothing like the ultimate adorable combination of babies and dogs to distract you from the stress in your life.
10. Retriever Station (@retrieverstation)
I trust any account that dresses dogs up as babies, especially golden retrievers.
11. Norbert (@norbertthedog)
This is my all time favorite Instagram account. If you don't follow Norbert, do it immediately and prepare to have every day brightened by this little guy's posts. I'd be lying if I said that I didn't have a sweatshirt with his face on it (number one fan status).
Dogs are great stress relievers (Isn't there scientific evidence that proves that?), so looking at dogs on the Internet is a great way to relieve the end-of-the-year stress. The only better way to feel less stressed is to actually be prepared for finals, but who has time for that? Dogs it is.
