11 Day-Starting Quotes Every College Student Should Read

It's hard to face the impending day as it blares through your window with no regard for how tired or overworked you are—because we all know Mondays, Tuesdays, and any day before Saturday can be downright brutal. Sometimes we just need to read some kind, inspirational, or thought-provoking words to motivate us, to make us look outside and go, "Yes—today may not be great, but I sure am!" So, without further adieu, here's some A.M.MO—a.m. motivation—ammunition to combat your morning blues.

1. Live your days like the sun. Rise and set with quiet beauty, be bold every hour in between.

2. The world is like elementary school gym class—everyone’s a wild mess, pushing themselves aimlessly backwards on those rainbow scooters, trying not to crash. It may be scary, but how could you NOT smile while riding a rainbow scooter?

3. Ladies—wear your lipstick (or Chapstick, or glossy) smiles and demand your presence. Make a stain they can't rub clean.

4. It's not selfish to care about your own happiness. Other people aren't in your head or in your heart every hour of every day—that's all you.

5. You are stardust. No really, it's a proven fact.

6. Think about life as a pop quiz. Sometimes you may know the answers, but you can't possibly be prepared for what's to come. It's OK not to know.

7. Success rhymes with "yes"—embrace opportunities.

8. Give yourself more credit for all those credits.

9. Everyday your forecast is different, so the whirlwind of feelings today will bring clear skies tomorrow or the day after that, or the day after that.

10. Remember when you were a kid and your dentist asked you what you wanted to be when you grew up? But his/her hands were in your mouth so all you could do was try and communicate, through the awful scraping and sucking and draining, that you wanted to be a doctor or a writer. It was impossible to be heard. Well, remember that fight. There are always going to be people who try and muffle your aspirations. You're just going to have to speak up against all the noise.

11. To live—to exist as we are—is involuntary, but to be alive...now that's truly voluntary.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
