The Lord is a God of wonder. Throughout the Bible, He performed many miracles and made a way where there seemed to be no way. He delivered His people from various trials and sicknesses, and continues to do so today. He is the same today as He was yesterday. He is an on-time God. In the midst of a storm, it is so easy to lose faith. Here are 12 Bible verses to help restore your faith:
1. The Lord parts the Red Sea
"And Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and the Lord caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night, and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided." Exodus 14:21
2. God protects Daniel in the Lions' Den
"My [Daniel speaking] God hath sent his angel, and hath shut the lions' mouths, that they have not hurt me...so Daniel was taken up out of the den, and no manner of hurt was found upon him, because he believed in his God." Daniel 6:22-23
3. Jesus heals a blind man
Jesus "spit on his eyes" (sounds gross, I know) and after this, the blind man "was restored, and saw every man clearly." Mark 8:23-26 *I know this seems like a strange way to heal a man, but I like to think that this is proof that God truly works in mysterious ways. Through it all, He has our best interest in mind.
4. Jesus feeds more than 5,000 with only five loaves of bread and two fish
Jesus blessed the little bit of food he and his disciples had and gave thanks. Jesus fed around five thousand! God managed to take the limited food and provided food for thousands. "And they did all eat, and were filled...And they that did eat of the loaves were about five thousand men." Mark 6:30-44
5. Jesus calms the sea
"Then he [Jesus] arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm. But then the men [the disciples] marveled, saying, what manner of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him!" Matthew 7:23-27
6. Jesus' resurrection
"He is not here [in the sepulchre]: for he is risen, as he said." Matthew 28:6
7. Jesus heals the woman with the issue of blood
This is one of my favorite passages in the Bible. Let me give you a little background. This woman had spent all of her money visiting different doctors to try and stop the bleeding that had plagued her body for 12 years. When she heard that Jesus was passing through, she said, "If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole." This woman managed to touch the hem of Jesus' garment and Jesus realized that the "virtue had gone out of him." The woman came before Jesus and told Him her situation. Jesus told her "Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace, and be whole of thy plague." Mark 5:21-34
8. Jesus raises the widow's son from the dead
"Young man, I say unto thee, Arise. And he that was dead sat up, and began to speak. And he delivered him to his mother." Luke 7:11-17
9. Jesus forgives the sinner
"Wherefore I say unto thee, Her sins, which are many, are forgiven." Luke 7:47
10. Jesus heals 10 lepers
Now on his way to Jerusalem, Jesus traveled along the border between Samaria and Galilee. As he was going into a village, ten men who had leprosy met him. They stood at a distance and called out in a loud voice, “Jesus, Master, have pity on us...and as they went, they were cleansed." Luke 17:11-19
11. Jesus walks on the water
"But the ship [which carried Jesus' disciples] was now in the midst of the sea, tossed with waves: for the wind was contrary. And in the fourth watch of the night, Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea." Matthew 14: 22-33
12. Jesus raises Lazarus from the dead
This story gets me every single time. Lazarus' sister, Martha, told Jesus that had if he been there, Lazarus would not have died. She was hysterical because Jesus was four days late! Jesus told her, "Thy brother shall rise again." The stone was rolled away form Lazarus' grave. Jesus said, "Lazarus, come forth. And he that was dead came forth." Saint John 11:1-44
13. Jesus heals a lame man at Bethesda pool
A man at the Bethesda pool had been lame for 38 years. The man told Jesus that every time he has "no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but when I am coming, another steppeth down before me." Jesus said to the man to "Rise, take up thy bed, and walk." Immediately "the man was made whole, and took up his bed, and walked." Saint John 5:1-9
