When most people think about Tangipahoa Parish, they think about Southeastern and strawberries. What those people do not realize is that Tangipahoa Parish has much to offer! Since becoming an intern at the visitor's bureau in Hammond, I have been exposed to so many attractions that I did not know existed and I learned that many people actually vacation here! Now, I will share some of my knowledge for the next time you or your friends want to visit!

1. Antique Sales

We are know as the "Antique capital of the world! With the biggest antique yard sale, you will find some amazing things here!

2. Festivals!

We are home to at least five festivals including The Strawberry Festival, The Sicilian Festival and The Italian Festival! Heres the link to one of the festivals that will be coming up; The Strawberry Festival!

3. Museums

We have eight great museums, including The African American Heritage Museum, The Children's Discovery Museum and one that is centered around pop star Britney Spears! Check out The African American Heritage Museum website!

Yes, you see it. Tangipahoa has a Safari with real animals! It is a great way to explore wildlife in a small city!

Tangi River Kayak is a great way to explore the river from the city of Amite to the city Independence!
