10 YouTube Videos You Definitely Obsess Over

Way back when, circa 2007, YouTube was booming. Unbelievable yet stupid-funny videos were circulating at a rapid pace, and my friends and I were severely addicted to them. We would quote them, sing along to them and basically surround our lives with their humor. Why? Because that was what you did. “Bon Qui Qui", “Glozell", “Muffins", “Shoes", you name it, we quoted it day in and day out. Something about these videos mesmerized us, and it's remarkable how much we wanted to be these video bloggers and reach the ultimate goal of YouTube “fame". From this crazy obsession we had, we attempted to become America's next internet-stars. But the sad reality of it all was, that we never exceeded more than maybe 20 views.

Tuesday afternoon on summer vacation? Everyone head to my house so we can wear my old ice show costumes and choreograph meaningless dance moves for the sake of a YouTube music video, that we only care if our “crushes" see. We thrived on said videos: they gave us something to do, as soon-to-be high school freshmen, with no responsibilities.

1. Shoes-LiamKyleSullivan

"Oh my god, shoes." Everyone knew this one. With its catchy backbeat and elementary lyrics, it was a video everyone could latch onto, and basically everyone did.

2. Bon Qui Qui-MadTv

"Don't interupt, rude", we all loved this one. Everyone knew Duayn, and knew that he wasn't on house arrest no mo'. We strived to be just like Bon Qui Qui, even though I still don't understand the origin of her name and herramen noodle hair.

3. Can I Have Your Number-MadTv

"You like Mike & Ikes?" Speaking of MadTv, no one could ever forget "Can I have yo numba?". This is one of the few videos that I quote to this day. It's inevitable, every time I actually ask someone for their number.

4. Charlie Bit My Finger-HDCYT

With an adorable British accent, these toddlers could never be ignored. The best part about this video, however, were the ones that spewed as remakes. "And it's still hurting, Charlie".

5. Muffins-LiamKyleSullivan

Shoes as his other counterpart, LiamKyleSullivan also created the infamous "Muffins". Listing the many types of muffins, the haunting nature of the character also acts as the comedic aspect. "Bits of glass, ouch.".

6. Annoying-ThatOneKid100

College being a foreign concept at the time, these two roommates gave us an idea of what it was going to be like. Hostile and hilarious, Vinny and Aaron became our friends. "Hey Aaron, do you ever get homesick?".

7. Charlie the Unicorn Goes to Candy Mountain-Candy Mountain

Somewhat creepy, these unicorns were our favorites. Along with its not so high-quality animation, there was something about this video that kept us coming back.

8. Laguna Biotch-MadTv

Mad TV kills it again with their spin off of the MTV hit series, Laguna Beach. Being one of a series of videos, "Laguna Biotch" was just as inappropriate as we wanted it to be at age 13. "There's so much drama on this couch, it's like a drama couch".

9. Stay On your Side-GloZell Green

Everyone loved our girl, GLoZell. With her loud humor, we felt like she was screaming at us, but we adored it and we too wanted her to meet "Peter at the Perk" with her "breasteses all pushed up".

10. Where's the Chapstick-CrazyTrumpeter

One of the easier tunes to catch on, quoting this one was unavoidable. We so badly wanted her to find her chap stick and were so thrilled when she finally did. She taught us how to beatbox. and we definitely owe her that.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
