Being a Pre-Med Major is hard, everyone knows that. Sometimes humor is the best way to get through those stressful weeks of studying and reading and labs. So here are 10 ways you know for sure you're a Pre-Med major...

1.There is no such thing as syllabus week...

Because if you didn't cover an entire chapter the first day of lecture, did you even go to class?

2. Having a 3.5-hour lab on the first day of class is "normal."

Okay, so let's be honest, that is not normal at all but I mean ... for us, I guess it kinda is. I mean they might as well throw us in the deep end, right?

3. Leaving lab early is the best feeling in the world!!!

Maybe it's just me...maybe it's not but doesn't walking out of lab early feel like the chains that have held you down the past few hours have been released? Too dramatic? No? Yes? Okay, maybe... but you get my point.

4. Books are so expensive...

Sure, let me go ahead and pay $250 for that Chemistry Book. Oh, wait what's that? Can I sell it back at the end of the year? SIKE. Nope, I can't, because MCAT. Need I say more?

5. People ask you for medical advice and you have no idea what to tell them.

It's like they say, "Oh, you're pre-med right? Can you tell me what's wrong with me?" and you respond with, "Oh no, but let me tell you about mitochondria and proteins."

6. Wearing long pants and closed toed shoes for lab when it's hot outside is the worst.

No, I am not wearing these jeans for fun. I am wearing them so the hydrochloric acid I'll be using doesn't eat me.

7. Recording lectures is life.

If ya'll don't know that it is unbelievably helpful to record your lectures. Trust me. Do it.

8. You are actually really proud when you're chosen to be a tutor or a TA for a class.

It's almost like a badge of honor. Let's be real, to all you tutors and TAs out there, you guys rock, and it is totally a badge of honor and you wear it proud.

9. Studying a week in advance for a test is NOT an option.

So for some of you geniuses out there, you're like "oh psh, you don't need to study for a week in advance!" Well, maybe not for you, but for us mere mortals, yes this is a real thing. Study a week in advance kids.

10. Med School is scary. And that's OK.

Med School is totally scary, it's real and it's coming and it's so hard. We don't know what to expect but it is a constant thing looming over our heads. It's the first thing you think about when you get a B on that test and the motivation behind almost everything you do in undergrad.

But yet, no matter how hard it gets, how many nights you stay up studying, and how many laughs and tears you go through, it's all worth it.

You go, future Doctor, you got this. We got this.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
