Before you become a real mom, chances are you will be a dog mom at some point in your life. Before I became a dog mom, I used to wonder why my friends who owned dogs were so obsessed with their furry little friends. Then I adopted a dog and the game changed. I am now also one of those crazy obsessed dog moms and I am proud of it. Here is how you know if you might be a crazy dog mom:
1. You have more pictures or videos of your dog on your phone than you do of you and your friends.
Your dog is way cuter than you and your friends anyways so it only makes sense that you would have more pictures of your dog.
2. When you hear other people telling funny stories about their children, you chime in with funny stories about your dog.
Babies and dogs are equally funny and each make for great stories. But, you probably get some weird looks when you talk about your dog as if it were your child, even though it basically is your child.
3. You don't mind that your clothes are covered in dog fur all of the time.
You used to think it was kind of weird when your other dog owner friends had fur all over them all of the time, but now you totally get it. You can't say bye to your dog when you leave for work or class without getting fur all over you but it is totally worth it.
4. You celebrate your dogs birthday or buy your dog Christmas presents.
They are part of the family too so why wouldn't you throw a birthday party for them or buy them Christmas presents?
5. Every time you go shopping, you can't help but buy your dog something.
You wouldn't want your dog to feel left out by forgetting to get them something at the store. Plus it makes your day seeing them wag their tail at their new toy or treat.
6. When you go to a friends house, you ask if you can bring your dog with you.
The thought of you having to leave your dog home alone is a horrible feeling so you just decide you are going to bring your dog everywhere with you. Whether your friends like it or not.
7. When you are gone you get your roommates/significant other to send you snap chats or videos of your dog.
You like to know that your dog is missing you just as much as you are missing them.
8. You have dog toys and bones all over your house.
No matter how much you try to clean up, the toys always find their way back into the middle of the living room.
9. People know not to ask you about your dog because you will probably talk for at least fifteen minutes about he/she.
You would be surprised at how long you could talk about a four legged creature. And most of the time nobody cares what you are saying anyways. So, it is probably better not to ask.
10. You probably have some dog related bumper sticker on your car and you have no shame about it.
You want everyone to know how obsessed you are with your dog and if people judge you for it, oh well. You are a crazy dog mom and you are proud of it.
