Everybody knows legendary writer and producer Jenji Kohan for her viral masterpiece, Orange is the New Black. OITNB changed the way people watched Netflix. It's an awesome show, undeniably. But, Jenji's previous work, Weeds, is far superior. Weeds is the best show to ever grace television, and here's why:
1. It's brutally honest. There is no sugar coating, no politically correct fluff, and no censor. Weeds is raw and real.
2. You can't help but fall in love with the characters (except Shane, really). You laugh when they laugh, like when Silas takes ecstasy, and cry when they cry, like U-Turn's death. You feel Andy's pain when he loses his toe and when Nancy breaks his heart over and over again.
3. Nancy is a flawed protagonist in so many ways. She makes mistakes and bad decisions for the sake of her family, which ends up ruining their lives, but it's all out of the goodness of her heart. She's complex and cunning, graceful and gorgeous, nurturing and neglectful.
4. The theme song is so catchy, and the later seasons had the strangest introductions that you grow to love.
5. Nancy's life is the epitome of "goals", aside from the whole criminal, run away, murder thing.
6. Weeds is full of classic one-liners.
7. Nancy is the original feminist icon. She provides for her family, stands up for herself, kicks butt in a male-dominated field, and still looks great.
8. Silas and every girl he dates are relationship goals.
9. There will never be another TV family quite like the Botwin's. They stick together through thick and thin, cleaning up each other's messes. Their familial bond is unparalleled in TV.
10. The feels. So many feels.
