Every year people make resolutions for the new year that only last a few weeks. Common ones include buying a gym membership, eating healthier, and being more organized. Everyone talks about how bad the past year was and all the opportunities that new year has to offer. In reality, all those opportunities were already there; you just need to have the courage to do it. Here are some good ways to take advantage of these opportunities and make this year your year.
1. Reorganize
The best way to get inspired is to constantly remind yourself is to make something different. Ever notice that you get excited to change the calendar page? It is because change gets people moving. So change your desk or move some furniture, and it will remind you to stay motivated and achieve your goals.
2. Do Something New
Get involved in something new that you would not normally do. Take a self-defense class or join a book club. Keep your mind and body active and change it up so you do not get bored!
3. Meditate
Spend time reflecting and relaxing. An easy way to get started with meditation is to try a yoga class. It has been proven that meditation helps people be at peace and live a happier life.

4. Be Optimistic
A great year starts with a positive attitude. Always be grateful for your blessings and only worry about what you can control. Spread the PMA (Positive Mental Attitude).
5. Find A Place To Volunteer
Volunteering is not only just a great thing to do, but it also helps you meet a new, great group of people. Get involved and find something you are passionate about, and you will help change lives and become inspired.
6. Make Fitness A Priority
It is important to be healthy both physically and mentally. Exercising helps relieve stress and make you a healthy person. Make a schedule or work with a personal trainer or join a fitness class or even have a workout buddy. Hold yourself accountable and this resolution will last past February!
7. Make Someone Smile Once A Day
Do something good for at least one person every day. Small, random acts of kindness can turn someone's day around. You'll be surprised how remarkable it actually is.
8. Let Go Of The Toxic People
Let go of that friend who only wants you around when it is convenient for them. They only lower your self-esteem and make you seem like the bad guy. True friends will make time for you and understand. I know it is hard, but I did it and it feels like a great weight has been lifted off of me.
9. Put The Technology Away
Make time for you to disconnect from your phone and social media. Spend some quality time with friends and family without having everyone on their phones. Go for a hike with some friends or go kayaking. Find a way to connect with nature and disconnect from the stress of technology.
10. Connect With Your Friends And Family
Sometimes with all of the hustle and bustle of this world, we lose track of what really matters: our loved ones. Make it a priority to spend quality time with them. Meaningful relationships are what bring us true happiness.
Take on 2017 with a whole new perspective!
