In life we are faced with new things. One of those big things is gong to college. So as you enter your freshman year you need to branch out, so do things you thought you would never do.
Go abroad. Join the chess club. Take up photography. Go on late night adventures. Just do things that you want to do, but have always been afraid to do because you were afraid of others judgment. Life is to short not to live it to the fullest.
1. Be yourself.
Nothing is more beautiful than someone being 100 percent themselves. If you will just be yourself the whole “making new friends” thing will take care of itself. Just surround yourself with people who love all of you, the quirky you, the crazy you, the funny you, the angry you, all of it. True friends will love you for who you are.
2. Call your Mom (and Dad)
Your family will always be there for you no matter what. On the bad days, on the good days, on the weird days, they are always just a phone call away. And sometimes what you need is just some encouraging words from your family.
3. Forget boys
Whether it is your ex from high school, the new guy you met at orientation, or that cute junior in your math class. Forget about them. This is a time in your life you need to focus on you. You need to figure out your worth and exactly who you are without a guy by your side. There will be plenty of time for “love,” so for now forget about boys.
4. Stay Healthy
Whether it is joining a sports team, or starting a workout routine, stay healthy. If you neglect your physical health you will get sick more easily, and you will gain the dreaded freshman 15. So be sure to keep yourself healthy.
5. But splurge sometimes
Don’t be afraid to take that midnight cookout run from time to time. Sometimes it will be what helps you keep your sanity. Whether you just got in a huge fight with someone, had an overwhelming club meeting, or just need a milkshake after your math final. Cookout runs will help you make awesome memories.
6. Eat good food
Balance out cookout with good foods like salads and vegetables. Maintaining a good diet is really important in college because it will keep you feeling good and allowing you to get everything done that you need to do.
7. Don’t forget your faith
Whether it is by joining a bible study, or finding a local church. Find something that feeds you spiritually. God is the only person who will always have your back and never disappoint you. God will love you even at your worst. So don’t forget him when you go to college. He will always be there no matter what and he will always love you.
8. Don’t procrastinate
As tempting as it is, don’t do it. You will regret it. It is not healthy to stay up all night to do something you put off, and it will push your stress levels out the roof. So always start on you assignments early and get them done on times. It will save your grades and earn your professors respect.
9. Have the time of your life
College is a once in a lifetime thing. You don’t get the chance to live it over and over again. So live it out. Have fun. Make amazing friends. Chase your dreams.
