We've all been there.
When you've committed to doing something, but when it comes to time to do it, you opt to take a nap.
When you're rushing late at night to finish a project because it's due the next day.
When you realize that you've spent a whole day working and ended getting nothing done.
We've all been stricken with a bout of procrastination.
Hit with a case of laziness.
The question is: how does one fight the urge to put things off?
1. Write a to-do list.
Personally, I write my to-do lists the night before. I feel like it's easier to write down everything that I want to get done the next day. It makes me feel motivated to get things done the next day.
2. Don't be afraid to take a short break from time to time.
Honestly, there is no point in overworking yourself. Without any breaks, there's more of a chance that you'll end up getting less done than you planned to.
3. Make sure that the goals you set are actually attainable.
That way, when you reach your goal you can say it.
4. Try to set deadlines for yourself.
I've always found that if I set a deadline for something, I feel more of an urge to get that task done. If I don't have one, I usually take forever to get things done.
5. Get the harder things on your list done first.
This way, you'll be able to focus on the easier things and hopefully be able to just relax.
6. Don't focus on too many things at once.
Hey, I'm all about multitasking! Although, if you're not careful, you could end up getting confused or worse, overwhelmed. Sometimes it's just better to put all of your focus into one task and then move on.
7. If you need help with something, ask for it.
There's no reason for your stress levels to rise dramatically because you can't figure something out.
8. Eliminate all distractions.
Put your phone on silent for a bit and find a quiet place to work. The less distractions there are, the more that will get done.
9. Don't let yourself get bored.
Just remember, there's always something that you could be doing instead of sitting around and complaining about how there's nothing to do.
10. If you end up finish everything on your list, reward yourself!
It's always good to celebrate a productive day :)
It really is the best feeling when you get everything done. It's like a gigantic weight has been lifted off of your shoulders!
Of course, these are not the only ways that one can boost their productivity. This list just goes to show you that there are ways to beat procrastination once and for all!
