It's that time of the year again. With what seems to be never ending finals, papers, projects, it's easy to feel stressed to the max. Here are some tips to remain calm under the pressure and kill it on your exams!
1. Make a list
Making a list is an easy way to get organized fast. It may feel overwhelming when you see how much you have to accomplish, but once you cross one thing off your list, you feel instantly productive.
2. Plan your day
Take a second when you wake up and think of what you have to do and how you're going to do it. Plan how many minutes or hours you want to spend on each subject, this way you don't end up cramming last minute.
3.Work out
Working out allows yourself to have an outlet from studying. It's a healthy way to get your mind off of the stresses weighing you down. Working out allows you to take a step back and clear your fogged mind.
4.Breathe
Everything is going to be okay. While it might not seem like that in the moment, in long term everything happens for a reason. It's easy to get caught up in the stresses and work facing you, but taking a step back and taking a deep breath can help keep you calm.
5. Take one it one assignment at a time
When you have a calculus final, English paper, chemistry lab, and psychology project to do, it feels like your drowning. Take one assignment at a time. Once you check one of them off your list, you'll feel confident in yourself to get the rest done. Also, this way helps but all your focus onto one assignment, rather than being scattered all over different assignments.
6.Take a break
In order for the information to absorb into your brain and to be academically successful, you should give your brain a second to chill before you send it into overload. Building a break into your studying schedule will give you time to recharge before hitting the books.
7. Drink water
Take care of yourself! Keep yourself hydrated and refreshed by drinking a lot of water. I find it extremely refreshing to take a big gulp while my brain is putting in work. Also, I find drinking water helps my skin clear up after getting blessed with those lovely stress pimples.
8. Don't procrastinate
I know. It takes every bone in my body to not hit the continue watching button on Netflix. While I am a frequent victim of procrastination, I find by doing a little bit each day will eliminate the last minute study at 11:00pm the night before. It's way easier said than done, but your going to thank yourself later on for starting to study sooner rather than latter.
9. Get some fresh air
I find that studying in an environment with windows, natural light, and fresh air is helpful in defeating stress. Fresh air keeps you awake and your mind rejuvenated and refreshed.
10. Sleep
Getting a goodnights sleep is crucial in letting your brain soak up all the information. Help you help yourself and take care of your body! Plus, being groggy the next morning won't help you be productive.
